Street Fighter (SFIV, SSFIV, HDR)

Chris, you seem to have very bad lag, can't even do jab, jab c.forward on you and that's a very easy link. I stopped playing to play with someone with a better connection.

Anyway, a few tips:

1 - Don't mash electricity while people are doing a BnB combo on you. As you saw, it's easily baited and punished.

2 - EX up ball is your best AA

3 - A lot of characters (DeeJay being crap means he's an exception) can punish blocked blanka balls, so be wary with them.

3 - Throw more when up close.

4 - Press 2 buttons to get up faster after a knock down.

5 - c.strong is a good AA without charge.

6 - Good normals are: c.roundhouse, fierce, strong and roundhouse (AA/weird properties).

That's the first time I've seen Blanka's second Ultra, so any tips on how it actually works/chip can be avoided would be useful :)

That's the part you 're having trouble with? I had a really hard time with the sonic boom -> Super. I just found an easy way of doing the part from cr.mp onwards.

db + mp
f
db + any punch (mp) (sonic boom comes out)
uf + any kick (super)
db to charge for Ultra
etc

tbh if you have no probs with that part, then just keep doing the entire thing - focus attack -> cr.lp -> stuff above and restart whenever you miss the cr.mp. That's how i some of the tough ones. Get all the non normal link parts sorted, then try the whole thing, and 'get lucky' with the link part

I get the feeling none of this will help you though, as you've probably read all 'Guile trial 20' pages on the internet :p

That is EXACTLY how I do it when I break it down.
I.e. precharging the sonic boom and then into the super by doing uf and kick.

But pulling off the cr.lp cr.mp is one problem I have, the other is going from cr.mp into the rest.
 
gg's rav, I'm pretty sure that is DeeJay's worst match up other than Seth/Sagat. Dhalsim out zones him and he has absolutely zero tools to get in. Luckily Rog's j.fierce beats a lot of your limbs otherwise that would be horrendous too.

Edit: Chris, why were you taunting in our games btw?
 
EX up kicks would beta the Ultras iirc.

Any tips? I know it's a nasty matchup but there must be something extra I can do.

But as Kreeeee said really bad lag! When I was playing as Sagat everytime I did an uppercut while you were in the air it came out just before you landed so you got to block. :o I couldn't do Codys basic cr.lp > cr.mp combo either. >.<
 
Kreeee, the matchup with dee jay for me looks like 7-3 for sim

you have to play it like a guile match, just gay it out.

build up ex and poke when i'm at arms length.

never jump from more than a few feet away, just jump to cross me up

that's all i can give really

If i hit you with my knee, try waking up with his flash kick, it'll get most sims off guard as they'll autmatically press fierce punch after the knee

That ultra is sooo good. Although out of those games we just had, Cammy's ultra 2 finish had to be best. You had over 50% health lol

Good tip, i never noticed it before even though it's obvious. Should be useful if used sparingly.

Can't "gay" it out though as sim is better at zoning :p

I was jumping to see if anything beat roundhouse... nothing did :(

Thanks for the advice though, shame this game is so matchup heavy.

Edit: fancy some offline sessions next week?
 
Art, the one that got me the most, which had me shouting at the tv was the abel trade into ultra on my akuma.

I had a look at where i was, how late you activated and you still got me, all the other rufus ones i didn't mind... well i did, just the ones when i was chun, i should have done my ultra, would have protected me from your hurricane of win.

Jumping light kick or punch will stuff my knee or standing roundhouse. I don't think it will beat my back strong though, i rarely use it as the knee tends to win.

Another great tip is to focus a lot. Focus the fierce punch and move in, it won't recover quick enough to get that extra hit to stop your focus.

But don't abuse it, my standing light kick will kill the focus and you'll have to start all over again, getting more frustrated, which makes it easy for me as people love to jump when they are frustrated.

Never focus a fireball when i'm in arms reach, it's free damage.

If you're down in London then we can play, but i can't make it up to brum, no money :(
 
DeeJay and Rog have terrible FA's. I tried in training and Dhalsims roundhouse beats all DeeJays jump in attack if sim times it right.

I'm in London every weekday for the next 6 months.
 
Really, my dad works around the corner at the Holiday inn.

I live in West Kensington, around a 15min tube ride to green park, or 25mins by bus.

If you're fine to host in your room, i'm free most of the week to pop down.
 
Been playing with guile recently :D hes absolutely awesome, just had a offline session with adz he pretty much pounded me so i need a guile pro to give an amateur like me some words of wisdom and some healthy tips :D CAV?
you up for a session anytime soon :D i should be online quiet regular as my brothers gone away so my connection will be pretty good :D
