a second car was needed to replace the S4. The S4 itself was supposed to replace my old mk3 Golf but that didnt happen, it just wasnt involved/fun enough in terms of driving.
i came to the conclusion that the second car had to include the quite/comfortable/sensible aspects of the S4 but i decided there was no point trying to top the mk3 in terms of giggles.
ive ended up with another Golf.
2000 W, mk4 20vt, black, 3dr, black heated leather recaros, climate, cruise, remap, 148k. interior is practically as new. front end is suprisingly free of stonechips, it really feels like its been looked after.
going to give it a real good going over to get it back to maximum health
to do:
front wishbone bushes
brake fluid
gearbox oil
"engine flush"
injector seals (maybe)
new wheels/tyres (as the current tyres dont handle the power that well and there is more power to come)
pics to follow.
found one big boost leak lastnight and re arranged the plumbing to the dump valve. the car is no longer laggy and i expect the missing MPG will start coming back (only averaging 33mpg before)
