**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

I have the texture quality and shaders set to high, shadows to medium and then everything else on low/off and my minimum fps is around 30 at 1920x1080 (those settings essentially retain the majority of the sc2 graphical style while ditching all of the 'bling'). That's for a 9800gt, c2d [email protected] and 4gb ram.

Dropping to 1280x1024 but raising the graphics to the ultra preset level instead results in a minimum of about 15fps. Considering how much better your CPU and graphics card are Boscher, I'd be very surprised if you can't get it running silky smooth at your 24" monitor's native res.
 
no there is a bajillion of people saying "lol dis worked u n00b u must be doin it rong!" over the internet about the 16 bit colours and res box but not a single proper fix. The only way I found around it was to get a script to kill explorer while you're playing and then bring it up again on exit but it was a bit iffy and BSOD'd my laptop twice so I haven't bothered since.
 
Ive got it working in windows 7. shortcut it then compatibility and tick all boxes apart from 'run this program in compatibility mode'

Just had my 1st game in about 4 years in SC1, was a blast from the past, played protoss and had no idea what to build apart from dragoons and zealots...no warp in!!?!?!?

edit : i cannot log in to battlenet in sc , it keeps saying my password is incorrect . wtf is going on , ****ing bnet crap

I used to play a lot of broodwar, havnt played in a long time, might go make an account! although in the mean time im gonna play some casual WoW and some CoD with some guys from work!

Same, I had my 1st game yesterday in about 3 or 4 years! I was pretty terrible. My opponent had lev 2 battle cruisers and I just had dragoons and zealots!

edit - how do you add friends in Starcraft 1? I click the friends button and it doesnt seem to do anything

/f a (name of friend) so to add me do

/f a alexl

SC1 names please! Does the rally point for nexus/hatchery/command c not work. My workers just go and sit next to the minerals and dont harvest them. Very useful!
 
I thought that if you were in the first phase of the beta, you will automatically be in the second phase...?

But some comments on the official forums, like "can't wait for the 2nd phase, hope I get in!", have me :confused:

What's the official word on this?
