From a car owners perspective , What is the best country to live in?

Oh aye

Thouroughly compromised.

Who would want to go somewhere like this

:rolleyes:

Holiday = Sure!
Trackday = No.

A scorching hot track is not what you want. It WILL compromise car performance and WILL be an uncomfortable experience for the driver.

How much of the USA can you get to and from Laguna Seca for 50 quid?

I think a more interesting question is how much of the USA can get to a track (offering arrive and drive track days) at all for 50 quid? I'd be very surprised anyone in the UK that doesn't live within a tank of fuel from a track. They might not be as well known as the likes of Spa and the Nurburgring, but they are still cheap legal fun.

Thanks for your sensible input that ties in with my thinking.

Honestly I don't know what this guy is on about, its such contrived reasoning, not liking uber hot weather driving MUST mean I live in an Igloo :rolleyes:

your like a politician

you didnt really say anything while throwing lots of words around ;)

And you're like a Bigot.

And you make bold, incorrect statements and then "defend" them by throwing a lot of tripe about.

30C+ weather is not a plus point for track days in the US.

who said anything about track days ?

the title clearly says whats the best country to live in, not the best country to do a track day in.

BTW the road to that BMW Static display was a potholed dusty mess 20 miles from a tarmac road, it was taken on a closed trailer pulled by a big silly American SUV. ;)

How about that for compromised driving? I did just make it up though, but then you just pulled a picture from another thread that you didnt even take.

Track day? Good B road. Because I have used my own cars in the past on track days I can explore more of it on a road and heat will detract from a good blast on either surface.

Ermm Yeah ok your completely right.

How stupid of me to think otherwise. America is a **** country with **** roads, theres nothing better than good old blighty.

Now wheres me cup of tea ....

Wat?

Post #22 was ENTIRELY about Track Days, you made that painfully clear with your L33T Lap Time print off, constant banging on about a VXR track day of some sorts and several links of American tracks. YOU turned discussion onto track days...

Backtracking - Don't you just love it? :p

my point about the great weather was addressed to the question in the OP.

My graph (ps show me where the lap time is, it will be like a game of spot the ball for you ;) ) was a response to the fact that somebody said that America doesnt have race tracks, and that id never been to one. Both of which are wrong. All talk about the weather was keeping on topic about what was the best country to live in.

Yeah cos we all know what a VXR Astra should do that circuit in? Maybe it was your +99% score he was refering to? Nice driving by the looks of thing as it tracks the instructor benchmark speed graph very well. :)

Maybe I'm black and gay so regardless of driving conditions southern US wouldn't be appealing? :p

I want to know how hot weather really makes a positive difference to one's car ownership experience?

I don't know about you, but I probably wouldn't "enjoy" a 30C+ day driving my car. Your windows will undoubtedly be up and the A/C on full blast, so you're not really saying full advantage of the heat, are you? Most people have climate control anyway, so behind the wheel it wouldn't make a massive difference if it were 13C or 30C outside...

id say US.. but then i again i like the country.. i like the people.. i like the insurance prices.. i like the cars they have.. i love long big roads.. everything is just good on this subject.. but again its a personal choice instead of talking over all..

Definitely NOT the USA, well the north east anyway. Insurance is on average double of that in the UK, new cars are a bit cheaper yes but used cars are much more expensive. Also there are police everywhere, and the fines are hefty. Although saying that one of the best roads I have driven on was route 1 in California up the coast, the Dodge Charger I had didn't do them justice.
