Right, recently my card has died on me it was the BFG 8800GT OC2 512MB. I paid quite a bit for this but just managed to deter after a while. I am now after a new card, not too expensive, bearing in mind that I will hardly game, if it be, once a month, and non-powerful games i.e. Counter strike source. I have been looking at Inno3D GT 240 512MB GDDR5, it is around £67 a bit pricey, but I have no idea if it is worth the purchase. I really want something which has a VGA port, DVI and HDMI port, it would be ideal. Also a card which has low temps and is fairly reliable. Any ideas on what card would be best for me with a budget of £70 max, if it be?

Regards

Do you need all three at the same time?

You might be able to find a second hand 4870 in MM or elsewhere for a reasonable price. Would probably be the best you can get at your price point. It'll probably be dual DVI which you can then change to VGA/HDMI via dongle :)

What's the rest of your rig and what resolution do you intend to be gaming at?

I would still recommend trying to get hold of a 4850/4870 within your price range. Either can probably be had for a reasonable price. 4850 you can have new for just above £70, 4870 can be found second hand for aroundthe same.

Either way you go, and even if you went for Dota's 9800GT, you'd be getting better performance than with any 240.

My Rig:

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0GHz ( ACF 7 PRO COOLING )

Asus P5E X38 Chipset 1600FSB DDR2 PCI-E Crossfire

OCZ 2GB PC2-6400C4 Platinum Revision 2 XTC Series DDR2 ( X 2 )

Hitachi Deskstar 160GB SATA-II AND SAMSUNG 1.5TB ECO

Antec Nine Hundred - Gaming Case

Corsair HX Series 620W Modular PSU

If you can stretch to it, i'd say go for this 4850. From my perspective, it's tough to justify spending 70 pounds on a 240 when a card with far superior performance can be had for really not that much more. It'll complement your rig well, and give you a warranty to work with.

The 4850 runs at about the same performance as the GTS 250 which is..well..more expensive :p

buying a NV9800 to replace a NV8800 seems a bit daft to me really as they are pretty much the same the card. the ATI 4850 is a cracking card at that price and will give a nice little boost to performance over the NV8800 its replacing, similarly the NV250 will give the same performance to the ATI4850 for just another tenner if you prefer the Nvidia option.
