LOTRO to go 'free to play' in the autumn....

Im finding the download to be very buggy, had to torrent one of the files. I love what I have seen on youtube videos of the game, even though the default blue GUI looks hideously out of place imo.

Any recomendations on a class?
Are healers/tanks a nightmare to lvl or do they do ok?

I only play whatever has fireballs or lightning storms or something similar.

Downloading is taking ages, even though its at 500%+ now, it keeps on going.

Its over 100%!!!!

Now the only game I want to drop the fees is AoC.

Guys i bought the boxed copy of LOTRO that came with the Mines expansion and 30 days free play about 8 months ago when it was about a tenner to buy.
I have an account but i have still to activate the game so i am wondering could i download the 14 day trial and after the 14 day use my code to activate so i would essentially get 6 weeks of free play ?

Also how much is it a month now ?

Yes.

I left it downloading all night and now its done ....

Now what server do I want .... I really should try a RP server, and Laurelin seems popular. But I dont know if I can stay good enough in the chat boxes and not end up kicked off an RP server lol.
I want to make a Lore Master / Historian now, and then a Rune Master / Tinker after it goes FTP and I buy the expansions using the free points. Those two crafting professions seem to go well together (farming + cooking, Prospecting + Jewelry + Weaponcrafting across them both, plus the Scholar thing).

Hehe, if you don't think you can control yourself in the chat then I would suggest snowbourne? Decent population server and you won't need to maintain control in chat.

All the servers have good communities, depsite what some of the elitist ***** on Laurelin like to think, pick the one that fits your mould best.

If you want to roleplay go onto Laurelin, If you want a very busy active server go to Snowy or Eldar, if you want a quieter server go evernight or gilrain

Laurelin is also good for player events of course, even if you aren't a roleplayer its good to watch the events. All depends what you like really. My lean is towards laurelin, but snowbourne has a good population too. Last time I saw the population figures for the servers laurelin and snowbourne were the top2 for population.

I went with Larelin, i have no idea what server my first character was on, couldnt find where I played when I first got the game.

I just had to OC my PC back up, it was running at 1.6 Ghz CPU and underclocked 5770s (600 / 1200 because it was too fast for Deux Ex :p), and Lotro with 8x AA was running like crap and I thought 'Wait a minute, I underclocked my PC!

Now its fine with 4 Ghz CPU and 1000 / 1300 on the 5770s, but I want to try and get AA working through the CCC, not in game so I can use SSAA.

Bah, that doesnt work, I cant use higher than 8x of crappy MSAA :(

Go to Laurelin if you want a decent, helpful community. Go to one of the others for people who are likely to call you an elitest **** :p
