if you re-install windows, Steam keeps all your games/settings etc within either the steam directory structure or the steamcloud. This is PRICELESS! No more reinstalling games and losing saved games/settings etc

You still have to install Microsoft C++ redistributable and Direct X for nearly every game. As well as GFWL for every game that uses it. And not all games use Steam cloud.

Still better than a complete re install of all games, but you would have thought that Valve could sort out only needing to install Direct X and C++ once and just update as needed.

Agreed, although sadly a few games still save in the documents folder, like GTA IV, which I found to my cost when I reinstalled Windows and lost my saves. (I have Steam on a separate partition.)

Yep... GFWL is a sod for this.... Not all saved games are saved within the steam folder.

Steam cloud is a great idea, sadly not used by all. PC gamers have to endure the horrid fact of if you re-format your system prepare to hunt high and low for all your saved games..

Steam does fix the issue of having to re-install games though, and you can move your game folder quickly using steam so has its uses.
 
Probably pick up Dead Space on Friday, been meaning to get it and ME2 on Sunday.

Great sale week by the looks of it.

im sure you realise i have steam but i dont go into everything about it and didnt realise it was in another time zone.

so you can face-palm your self and come back with at least a constructive reply please.
