OnLive Launches Today

I can't really see how this is possible but it appears to work!

iPad/iPhone/iPod is probably the best market they could aim at tbh. For people used to minimum lag PC/Console/HD gaming it will not be as good for fast games, but for a platform with mostly crappy games, this is a godsend.

Edit: Thinking about it, Apple would think up some sort of rule to block something like this, if you had this, no matter what the monthly cost, why would you buy a lot of the crap on App store?

Lots of Apps have had in-app purchases for a while now, I don't see this as being any different.

Nothing to do with in app purchases, onLive is a subscription based service from what I understand, and I can't see them splitting that cost with Apple 70/30.

I suspect if it did exist you would pay onLive direct and the client would be free and use a login system. Apple would see no money from a free app and seeing as the onLive client would give you access to a vast array of different games, messaging etc, it would provide stiff competition to a lot of the crap games on App Store.

Anyway just my thoughts, if it came to Apple handhelds it would be great, but I don't see it happening soon.

Let me guess, you have no Apple ipad/ipod/iphone so immediately react negatively to it? Do you only ever have good things to say about products you own/can afford?

Way to go overboard, totally agree with that comment. Your arms will be blocking the screen. If they were at the bottom, most likely a lot better.

I find this incredible, is this the future of portable gaming?

It is a bit odd but I imagine the iPad better balanced having it at the top, not so much strain on your fingers from holding it at the bottom.

It was a bit overboard tbh, I agree the controls would be better at the bottom, but the app was just a proof of concept thing, not a real final version or anything.

I let my annoyance at the fact cheets trolls and adds short negative posts in a lot of threads get the better of me. IT WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN.

Are your elbows the wrong way around?

It's obvious that this won't work without a bluetooth controller or something of that effect but ye... That youTube video is pretty damn impressive when he pans out to all the multiple games running and he can jump into any one of them at any given time.

With a bit of luck the client will let you look at what other's are playing without needing to subscribe, just so you can see exactly how good it is.

kinda thought the same, surely they should be at the bottom of the screen rather than the top..

:D

I say nice things as well.

Great concept but imo todays tech is not up to the job for anyone who plays games other than casually. Large latency on input = big no no for me.

Does it really matter what the hopcount is though (obviously aslong as it doesn't reach it's limit) if bandwidth is increased enough.
