The EA week on Steam

Does anyone know if NFSU has the same "steering" issues as shift. Shifts steering problems has really put me off future NFS games at the moment.

Very hard to impossible, in my experience. I'll be interested to know how you get on with the game :)

I tried rebooting but it still didn't work. Every other game I have works fine, and I have pretty mainstream hardware. I have Windows 7 on a dual boot so I'll try playing it from that later.

Hi DD,

Just to confirm that it loaded with no problems, watched the intro with the russion speaking girl on the intro, just need to take a cold shower to stop thinking about her breasts :)

Am looking forward to playing it this weekend, I know its a bit cartoony but its still ok to pass a few hours :)

With the racing games, do you need a Wheel to really enjoy it, or is Mouse + Keyboard fine?

Never bought a racing game before (apart from Driver on ps1...)

Depends on how realistic they are supposed to be. For simulators I'd expect a wheel would be pretty much necessary, but for the racing games in question a gamepad would suffice. A 360 controller would also be way better than mouse/kb.

From expirence, NFS: Shift was unacceptably bad on PC due to the controls being bad on most hardware. I tried Keyboard and Pad controls and never found it worthwhile, I spent more time setting up the game then I did playing it. Grid however was great with the pad and not overally bad with keyboard.

Hmm looks like I'll have to give it a miss then! It wouldn't feel right using a game pad on the pc!

Maybe if I ever buy a console I'll buy a racing game then :(

Sorry I don't get the logic behind you're thinking, are you too "leet" to use a pad  Sounds like you're biting your nose off to spite your face tbh.

The 360 pad works fine on the majority of pc games nowadays, it's certainly far more enjoyable playing a racing game using a pad rather than the keyboard, although Logitech G25/G27 f t w :D

Well for one, I'll be spending about £20-£30(?) on a pad for one game which I may or may not spend a lot of time one, I haven't bought a racing game for a VERY long time, and haven't played one since Driver.

and I've been thinking about buying a console lately and just seeing Gran Turismo 5, a ps3 might be in order in the near future.

*edit*
And omg just found that G27 on the shop £220!! Phwoar gotta be nice.

sort of contradicts with this slightly.....no?

The 360 controller can be used in the majority of games nowadays, you don't have to buy it solely for racing games. In fact I find I'm using mine more and more nowadays, what with all the console ports that are being released ;)
