I'm in a general malaise - all my favourite shows are either finished for good or have finished for this Season :(

Breaking Bad
SGU
Sons of Anarchy
The Tudors
Lost
V
Dexter
Prison Break

Help! I need something to keep me going :(

Mad Men

House

Justified

Spartacus

They are the 4 best tv shows around currently along with Breaking Bad

then you've got things like

Luther, Damages, Entourage, Party Down, Blue Mountain States, 30 Rock, Archer etc which are all great shows.

Id Suggest Smallville but thats pretty much like Marmite, love it or hate it :P

+1 for House & Spartacus. I'd also recommend Sons of Anarchy and the O.C.

The Sheild, The Wire, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Supernatural, West Wing, Oz, Six Feet Under

Is Breaking bad as good as everyone says it is? I need more TV shows to watch too as a lot of my stuff has recently stopped.

I've actually started watching ER from the very first season as I used to like the show growing up. There's 15 seasons of it though!

House, Spartacus.

Series 6 of House finished the other month, so lots of watching to keep you interested.
Spartacus has had one series, but episodes are an hour long.

Contrary to popular belief Spartacus is actually an awful, awful show.

I'd recommend House but it's very samey 6 seasons in. Still consistently written though. Entourage is great. Battlestar Galactica is good too.

Party Down, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Eastbound and Down and Arrested Development are probably the best comedies of recent years.

Also, I need to recommend In Treatment. Gabriel Byrne plays a psychologist who hates being a psychologist. It's not long finished it's 2nd season but it's really good. It was shown every week night for 9 weeks, so there are a lot of episodes per season. It's a bit stagey (like a play, I guess) but it's very good. Sometimes very intense. I highly recommend it.

EDIT: I should probably add that objectively speaking, Spartacus is a really bad show. I don't think anyone can deny the dodgy acting, dialogue, characterization and CGI make for a terribly written and produced show BUT that's also an appeal for many people, and makes it more compelling so I guess it's one you really need to try for yourself to see.

Underbelly is worth a watch, just got though three series of it, well last series in still ongoing has two episodes left. It's mainly about gangsters and corrupt police in australia, lots of violence.

I've started to go off Fringe, I think they took it to far.

If you haven't watched The Shield then you must. I spent so much of the time on the edge of my seat I got piles.

The Wire
The Sopranos

Although everything will seem pale in comparison to these two, so maybe watch the other suggestions first :)
