Watch I just finished for a friend

A friend's wife asked me to make him a watch on her behalf for a birthday present. I agreed and spent some time with her figuring out what she wanted, which was dressy, black dialled, stainless steel and relatively classic looking, she also fancied roman numerals. This is what we ended up with.

We had the case side engraved with roman numerals of his birth and this year. Initials on the buckle and a soppy message on the back.

He seems chuffed to bits with it, so I'm happy.

Thanks for all the comments in the multi lume thread too: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18155911

I'm liking using that one and it's been on my wrist since I finished it.

And how much would it cost me to hire your watch making services? :D

Very nice :)

Clearly I would be very kind but the kids have to eat!

(watches are definitely still in hobby territory so only kidding, but the list of people I would only charge parts to is pretty short! :))

damn me that is one nice watch. Wish I had one that stylish, I've got a crappy 30quid thingie from River Island (don't laugh) which is on the way out

That is a beautiful watch sir.

Have you ever thought about selling them to the public?

Skidder, If you ever get chance it would be great if you could make an idiots guide thread to getting into watch making. I'd love to build myself a watch

I was going to say the same thing.

Always impressed with the work, would love to know how you got started on all this and where someone can begin.

So you can see the internals on the back then?

That is awsome. :)

thanks, yep it's a display back

movement is an eta 2824-2, very standard, but very good swiss automatic used and often rebadged/tweaked by many companies charging a lot of money for their watches (tag, tudor, breitling, omega, tudor and many others)

thanks chaps, I will at some point - promise!

I got started just trawling around watch forums. I was more interested in making something unique for myself than collecting other people's watches (I have some branded watches that I love but they have been gifts). The reseources are out there but information is not all in once place. I will at some stage do a step by step set of pictures and some text.
