I want my street cabled now! :(

My friend just posted this from his Hotel in South Korea.

Nice.

Recently moved house into a fairly new build and thus lost my lovely 20Mmbit VM cable connection. The download speeds are not that bad, just I hate the Quakelive ping increase :p

Just got this email, after begging Virgin to cable our area..

Hi dude,

We have completed our investigation into the area you suggested for cable infill. Unfortunately to cable this area would require a major network extension.

At his time, there are no immediate plans to extend the network into new areas if this requires main build - as this is very expensive.

Regrettably we are not in a position to offer service at this time, but we have a clear understanding of the need for provision in this area. As we find new ways of serving areas such as this that are outwith the existing network, we will look at your request further and may be able to include this in build programmes in future years.

I appreciate this is not good news, but be assured our team have investigated this very thoroughly and will continue to look for other solutions that may help us achieve this in the future.

Best regards

The Man

Stuck on a paltry 4mb here, hopefully FTTC will help a little bit...any news on whether Sky will be offering it?

:(

Can I ask where you sent your email to, i emailed [email protected] a few months ago but haven't had a response.

I've moved into a new housing estate that was built on an old street layout that had virgin installed but not put back in and would really like to get it back. Even though I can get LLU where I live my line is 4km+ long, managed to sync at 2.7 with a bit of tweeking but still would like it faster.

Sure. [email protected]

I got the email address, after someone in the network forum posted it :)

How long did they take to reply?

I've just sent an email. :)

2 hrs, for the initial "we're looking in to it" email.

Then 2 weeks until the "final decision" email, which I was impressed with.

work for BT and had free bband but their monthly cap and 1mb throttling done my head in so changed to sky for £10 a month

not too shabby at all, Virgin ends at the top of my street grrrrrrrrrrr
