It's finished (crash content) (now incl. new car content!)

I'm definitely going to at least take this one to a few airfield days. Though I don't think any amount of training or whatever would have prevented me from stacking the old one in a hedge. That was just a **** luck and, frankly, a lesson in life. I'll definitely take it easier on damp roads in the future and maybe change my route to avoid back roads. Basically I'm going to do a reset on my driving and reanalyse everything about the way I drive.

Good attitude! I had an incident in my 200sx a few months ago, luckily the car wasn't damaged and no property or other cars were involved, but it certainly **** me up. No idea what caused it as I certainly wasn't driving like a plank - I was waiting to get the geometry set up at the time as there were some toe issues on the rear wheels which I guess might have caused it..

Anywho since then I find myself a lot more aware of every aspect of driving - the road surface, my straight line speed, turn in speed, steering angle, throttle position etc etc. It certainly makes for a more careful drive which no doubt makes me slower, but at the end of the day keeping myself and the car in one piece is more important than showing off down the back roads.

If you haven't yet driven one I'd recommend it, then you'll really understand the point! They really feel like they can defy the laws of physics, sometimes you just can't believe that your only contact with the road is 4 bits of rubber.

I went in Nozzers back in't day when he had one!

Haven't driven one, would love to though. :)

It' just a good few years back I created a thread called Elise hatred, back then I REALLY didn't get the point of a shoebox on wheels and just dissed them and slagged them off.

Never again :)

Bad luck Nathan, but good news on the new purchase. Not what I would have gone for (s1 linkup with an sc up it's arse, or early s2 nitron'd and duratec'd (or even audi'd!) for that kind of cash) but looks lovely.

Phate, I remember that thread and I remember giving you both barrels. Glad you now see the point :)

Great choice. Sorry to hear about yur Elise, but looks as though it might have worked out for the best eh? :)

Sorry to hear that. Such a nice motor as well.

At least your not hurt though, which is the main thing. Just think you now have a fresh new car to look forward too :)

Got any in mind? ;)

Sorry to hear about the accident mate, but looks a lovely motor to replace it.

I love the rear quarter in side-profile on the Elise, very nice.

Regarding getting back on the Horse, as you are probably more than aware, CarLimit days with Walshy have a great reputation. I believe he has a shed-load of airfield fun dates in the very near future.

Just back from Birmingham to do the final deal on the car. Went for a quick test drive. Apart from a ticking noise from the front which we think is a stone in the tyre (he's going to check/fix whatever it is), all was fine!

The steering is remarkably heavier than my old 111R. I'd say about 40-50% heavier. But this is good as I always thought the steering was too light on my old car considering it wasn't PAS.

The brake and throttle pedals are amazingly better. The throttle is so smooth, totally smooth. I guess that's the bonus of fly-by-wire. No lumpiness caused by the throttle cable in the first few mm of travel. The brake pedal was much better too - the moment you put any movement into that pedal you start getting braking power. Old car there was a few mm of travel before any braking power started.

Car feels very solid. Not really any noises (apart from the ticking which we thought was a stone), no knocking noises or anything. I guess that is what you expect for a 3500 mile car though.

Suspension is quite a bit firmer than old car. Maybe 20%. But that's fine by me. Especially as the seats are much more padded than the old car.

Alloy wheels are amazing to look at. I just love them.

The only insurer that I've found so far that will cover me now is CCI. But that's not all bad because CCI are rather good and actually throw in cover for a few track days a year. Also they give a 10% discount if you can show you've done a CarLimits style course. So yes... guess what I'll be doing ASAP ;)

Looks nice mate :) Make sure you take me for a drive in this one as I didnt get to feel the Elise on the road with your last one.
