Getting let to watch the football at work.

The world cup is on once every 4 years, this is our last and only chance of getting through to the next round.
So? Its still football players kicking a ball around. Apart from if you win you get a cup :O

I wonder if people at school are getting to go home early by a little bit

and that we come back after its finished (Which I will not be, as I finish at 4:30 anyway)

is the expectation not that you'll come back and work the time you had off? In your case the 1.5h from 3-4.30? I think if i told my team this that would be my expectation

You guys work for one of the big banks by chance?

i have a finance meeting at 1.45, as soon as that's done i'm out the door, if it wasn't for that i'd be long gone by now.

We were told that if we worked our lunch hours we would not be expected to make up the time, so all is good, half an hour net gain.

You can break down anything and make it sound silly. But The world cup is like Christmas for the majority of adult males.

That is true. So tv's on for the rugby world cup aswell when that comes ;)?

Though i do like rugby; while i think football is played by a bunch of overpaid girls :)

either way, enjoy the game! I know ill hear my dad yelling and god knows what haha

My boss gave the option of watching it in the stores with the warehouse staff, watching it at my desk or going home, on the proviso that I watch it at his so I can let his dog in the garden. Guess which one I chose? :D

Should perhaps mention that my boss is my dad.

Have got a choice to watch it at work and make up the time or go home and make up the time, stupid american company.

I'm in london today doing some desktop support for one of our customers. They will have the game on the plasma in the meeting room but chances are i'll have to support the girlys who are doing work at the time - probably wont get to watch it.

We are allowed to work through lunch and then go downstairs into the MD Office/Boardroom and watch it on 50" TV.

I've decided I can't be arsed to go and sit with the old's of this company downstairs so just going to watch it on BBC and stream it with headphones from my PC.

Just set-up a plasma on the wall but no sound, will have to use my laptop and stream a second video feed and just minimise it for the audio

Finishing around 2pm but no doubt i'll be caught up in some traffic jam on the M1 towards my exit with loads of other people heading home from work early to watch the game hhmmmm :/

Bucking the trend, my place of work is not letting the staff watch any of the matches.

That hasn't stopped them running a "World Cup" promotion though.

Ditto, we arn't being allowed time off - Also apparently having a radio on would be unprofesional if people could hear it on our phones when they call in. We are only a Company of 12 people GRRR.
