World Cup 2010 - GROUP C (England, USA, Algeria, Slovenia) **spoilers**

Well now that we decided to turn up to this competition the first thing is to get our heads out the clouds. All we did is beat Slovenia 1:0 in a match that had plenty of lapses of concentration on our side and could've went horribly wrong. I also found it embarrassing that we had to resort to time wasting near the end of what was basically a match in a group that couldn't really be any easier for us. Speaking of that group we also finished second to USA which in itself speaks for itself.

Now that players have the confidence again, they need to concentrate on what it is that they lacked in first 2 matches to make sure it doesn't happen again and make sure they are consistent throughout to avoid Terry having to literally put his head on the line. It was nice to see some nice attractive football and good to see J Cole come on, although not entirely convinced about playing him upfront and with Defoe out of all people.

Too little too late. We still played averagely, but much better than before.

Now we have to beat Germany, which in my view is unlikely, and then even more so against Argentina.

Never mind though, at least we can keep our flags up for a while

I agree. England is the andy murray of the world cup. We all know he isn't going to lift the wimbledon trophy. :D

There's no rule against that - you can't stop teams from just keeping the ball in the corner when it's in play. Too bloody right as well - it's up to the other team to get the ball off us.

I am one that actually wishes taking it to the corner flag was against the rules. I detest it, even when my club does it. But thats neither here nor there, Slovenia are beaten and we will now win the world cup :)

I just don't understand how the mainstream media is so brainwashed and delusional, just on the gerrard interview shes saying fantastic performance and it just wasn't really if it wasn't for that tackle by Upson we'd be on a plane home.
A team like brazil or argentina spain would probably thump Slovenia 4-0.

Firstly, football has been said to be a well watched sport in America, they also have the second biggest following at this world cup after South Africa.

Secondly, they didn't beat us, it was a draw. Have you been reading AMerican newspaper headlines? :p

That hasn't really much to do with my point above which is that it's 7th in comparison with the other sports. They might have the second biggest following here, but by population size and wealth that's to be expected.

I think it's clear I meant they beat us to the top of the group.

Oh **** off, it's the most played sport in the US.

Garbage.

The way I looked at it was the quality difference between the basketball teams of both national sides is far greater than the difference in the football teams. I didn't take into account popularity.

No, I understand, they aren't a bad side but that's what makes it eerie. As a country it's like saying "oh alright, here's 22 men. Go to South Africa".

It was a good performance. Had it not been for some poor finishing, Slovenia were miles out of sight.

Like how Brazil thumped North Korea 4-0? :p

Been at the moonshine?

England, despite the win, weren't impressive.

A better side would take us apart.
