I know there is an official iPhone thread but that is moving so fast with people queuing, talking tariffs etc that problems get lost.

I have got mine and am having wifi connection issues - it seems to work sporadically at best. Sometimes it timesout completely. I havent been able to establish whether it is different while in my hand or not.

My 3G is working fine, loading in 2-3 seconds so I dont think it's router issue.

Anyone else have a similar issue?

edit: surely we can have a separate thread for people with problems? I dont want to have to read 30 posts about people comparing tariffs to see if someone else has the same issues as me? please?

Ha thanks, it appears there arent as many problems as I had anticipated then!

I have finally had my sim card activated and my cellular signal doesnt seem to be affected - only my wifi...

I've just made a call holding with both hands to test it, my dad could hear me crystal clear and I had full coverage the whole time

Cheers mate :)

Can someone test the reception issue in the following contexts please:

Holding device with right hand
Wearing gloves (just the hand holding device) - try both hands though and ensure you are bridging the antennas (most likely to do that accidently through normal use)
Balancing it on your **** :p (joking)

ps3ud0

Slightly puts my mind to rest when I hear things like this...

However, it sounds like more people are having problems than there are to people with a perfect iPhone :p

Will be interesting to see how people on here get on with these problems. As I posted in the other thread -

The signal problem seems to be just about across the board.

Make no mistake, this is a massive problem on Apples part, even Engadget are reporting that their iPhone 4 drops calls when held in the left hand. So it isn't just the bar display.

I want one of these, but I will happily wait to see if this gets sorted out. Anyone who orders one now or goes to buy one now is absolutely stupid.

These arent small niggly issues with the software, they are phone-crippling problems that the iPhone 4 is currently experiencing and Apple have clearly failed with quality control.

Apple fanboy or not, its time to take a step back and admit this is a big problem.

People suggesting that its fine as you can get a bumper case/invisibleshield and so on, are you really happy you've spent £500/600 on something faulty?

I hope it is resolved as I wouldn't mind getting one at some point, but I am relieved I didn't order/buy one yet, as the stock is most likely going to get recalled unless the Antenna thing is a software issue, which I doubt.

Do yourselves a favour, and wait.

are your hands moist at all? It's being caused by the antenna shorting out.. if your hands are totally sweat free then this won't happen.

Can imagine it's only going to drop calls if the signal is poor to begin with. What happens if you bridge the gap with a key/coin etc?

Might be more of an issue in the states due to the frequency that AT&T use

interesting the signal issue appears to have resurfaced, i'm trying to sort a problem out with a 3gs and got told that changes had been made to the aerial design on the ip4 to improve things.

That is good news then if you don't have the signal issues, it would appear though at the moment, more people than not do.

Which is another reason why I would withhold purchasing for the time being. Hopefully it is resolved.

signal does seem fine with me. Wifi is still annoying me though. It works, sort of, but most of the time its taking 30s + to load a page, if it does load at all. Same page loads 2-3s on 3G phone.

Could be the new wifi chip? My router isnt wireless n if that makes a difference?

Mine has the signal issue, if I hold the phone in my left hand to browse the web etc, I lose all my bars and the phone drops the network completely. I've had mine since yesterday (early delivery in the US).

Exact same thing that happened to Steve Jobs when he revealed the phone and everyone said would be fixed.

Oh dear :p

whether you have sweaty hands or, this is unacceptable. nor is asking people not to touch that part of the phone, or only use your right hand. This is a phone, and a design fault like this is totally unacceptable. If they knew about it at Beta and did nothing about it then it is down right arrogant. If they didn't know about it then they are negligent and incompetent. If they know about it and thinks the bumper is the solution then that is sloppy. It is like the Leica M8 with the purple tint and ask users to buy filters.

There is only 1 way to fix this, redesign or fix it at the factory during production.
