when did the iphone stop being a mobile phone ?

just wondering... has the iphone moved on from being a phone with this new offering ?

imo totally unnecessary moving the thread from here. it was far easier to view than 160+pages of hype , preorders and early morning queuing is.

was it really cluttering up the already quiet mobile section so much ? cant even find the posts from within it now :/

Indeed tis a pretty stupid rule and one that needs to be aborted.
I wont even contribute to the discussion now as I aint trawling through all those post to find where its at..
 
ditto. im actually very interested in the new iphone but reading all those pages of hype and arguing does not appeal to me when it had its own little discussion here amongst posters i recognise and whos words and opinions can usually be trusted.
 
agreed, am fed up with all the threads being merged into the "offical xxx bla bla thread"

It's stupid.

It would make more sense to have sub forums for each device
 
i know, that was kind of my point. either way it is stupid.

maybe sub forums for each handset manufacturer? but does this sub-forum get enough traffic to warrant that?
 
If storage and bandwidth are really so constrained that a discussion about a mobile phone can't be opened in the mobile phone forum then perhaps GD threads such as 'spec a toenail clipper' or 'Bush ordered the 9/11 attack' should be deleted to save space instead.
 
Merging threads doesn't affect storage or bandwidth.

The number of posts in this section is so low that fragmenting the forum would kill it. I had nothing to do with the thread moving btw.
 
Have to agree on this one. It's still a mobile phone, just because it has an "i" at the beginning shouldn't mean it has to go in the Apple forum.
 
Confused as to what is going on here.

The iphone 4 is no less of a phone than any of the previous iphones, what makes you think it is?
 
All the iPhone threads here being moved to the Apple forum is the issue. It would appear most of us don't see the point in having to go a different sub forum to talk about a specific mobile phone to the rest.
 
I see, I gather this thread was moved there and back again? Wouldn't mind more iphone threads in here, as someone already said it's becoming more of an Android forum now, maybe some more iphone threads would balance it out.
 
I agree. Most of the iPhone thread's here over past few days have been merged into the big thread in Apple hardware section.

Most people that post in this section do seem to be Android fans, as you say not helped by the fact everything iPhone related is moved and there's no threads here for it.
 
The issue we have us that the mac is a laptop, the iPhone is a phone and Ipods are mp3 players. Yet they all belong in the same section and not 3 separate ones because of their common themes, compatibility and target demographic.

Not an easy call, but the admins have made their decision.
 
There are still 2 threads on front page alone with iphone in the title.

The problem lies with lack of consistency in the moderation of this, some get moved and other don't.

Why not just leave them alone?
