*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

Tell me something - when Froyo does come out, how would one update this on a standard rooted phone upgrading it to a standard rooted Froyo Desire as intended by HTC except with root ??

It's amazing how slow SenseUI is compared to ADW or LauncherPro - just configuring mcr3.1 for my dad's phone and it is pretty painful to use as I'm used to my LP's lightning speeds!

What do you find slow in Sense? I've used pretty much every ROM under the sun, adw or LP and I've not noticed an appreciable difference in use.

Well SenseUI scrolling the homescreens there is visible jumpiness more often than none, in LP/ADW there is no jumping or slight stuttering at all, it is seamlessly smooth.

Getting "Download Unsuccessful" On everything I try and downloade from the Market on since flashing Pays Sparta, Any ideas?

EDIT:- Solved, Cleared Market cache.

I had that on my dad's for some apps. Retry a few times.

Market takes 2~ days to settle down after a new ROM install and become normal again so bear with it.

Just so you guys know. Paul's R19 is still a N1 port.

BUT he is working on compiling the final release of froyo, so shouldn't be too long, then just got to wait for HTC to make a new radio so we can have camcorder :(

I don't think i will ever go back to sense now tho

Right I have completely and utterly been put off the iPhone thanks to Jobs response to the signal issues.

Convince me to get the Desire. I currently have the Magic and I suffer from slowness when opening applications which some times causes crashes.

How much better is the Desire? I can put up with a crap battery as I have had the magic for a year now, but I would rather it last longer than that (normally almost dead after 2 hours of surfing the web and general day to day usage)

One of it's best features is the responsiveness. About the only time I ever experience slowdown is when installing an app, and that's only a few seconds. You'd have to go some so kill the battery in 2 hours as well...mine lasts a day with moderate usage and I don't do anything special except turn GPS off.

If you think the default Desire is responsive then you've in for a treat when rooted and flashed with a custom ROM ;)

I went from a rooted HTC Magic (running Cyanogen) to the Desire and it's immense.

Yeah, I was surprised how bad the battery was, perhaps I have a duff one, I unplug my phone in the morning about 7.15, use if for an hour on the train browsing websites (normally news or forums). Sat on the desk at work, not doing much, but with the odd few facebook checks, use it again for a hour on the train on the way home, and then get notified that there is only 15% battery left. Sync is always on as it downloads my emails and calendar (need for work)

Screen brightness low, and drops lower after 50% battery life.
