Mortal Online has been released?

Nice pic. I still think they should include the option to switch between first and third person as it would open up the game to a lot more people, plus its always nice to be able to see what your character looks like (and in combat).

Its a tough one, personally in a PvP MMO I think first person only makes sense. You shouldnt be able to see people creeping up behind you, third person would allow that. The lack of third person I feel increases the tension and also increases the potential tactics which can be used.

I agree, first person is brilliant and should be the only way it's allowed to be played. I like the fact that when a person is facing me on my screen the person is actually looking at me on his/her screen. If I'm hiding by the road side and someone passes by and doesn't look at me I know I'm undetected, I really like that.

And Mortal makes great use of shadows, you can actually see someone creeping up behind you by there shadow infront of you !

Just had my first pvp encounter (3 days playing and this is the first time ive been attacked). Helps that i won too :D

Although i did then go onto die when i found a wisent spawn, guess its back to the pigs for a while :p

Third person worked really well in Neocron but it didn't have the really dark situations like you lot have been describing. I guess as long as it have a half decent field of view then being in first person all the time shouldn't be an issue.

I'm seriously tempted to get this but I may have to see if I can get a friend to download it as it would take about 15hours to download it on my 1Mb connection.

another screenshot to tempt the unbelievers :D

Has anyone made any decent movie's showing pvp in the game yet? Anyone's I see on youtube are from beta and rather jerky.

hmmm i really need someone to convince me to buy this

I played in beta and whilst i enjoyed the majority of it, i kept being killed by things that where no where near me, has this stopped happening?

There is a major network patch due Tuesday, currently they are limited the amount of packets per second between client and server.

Well that should be interesting. I wonder how their server's will cope with increased traffic.

Wow reading a bit about this game it sounds like it has a lot of potential really like the harshness and how open it is. Gonna buy will post again with hopefully how happy i am i purchased

good to know the game has another follower, the devs really deserve it and with the more people playing the better the game will get from a development standpoint at the least

on a side note if anyone wants some rather crappy 2h brownwood sledgehammers in fabernum let me know and i'll make one for 5s

I have thought about this game a lot. But for the moment ive decided to hold off. Its sounds great and very bad all in one, but im not willing to pay over £40 for a game that seems to be very much a pay to play beta.

Im not sure who the game publishers are but im guessing they are quite a small bunch probably with little knowlege of buisness sence. Wouldnt want to loose my £40 and time if they collapse.

Unfortunatally if the game does pick up in the future everyone who took the risk and pain of playing from release will be uber and make it very boring for new players, so its likely ill never get to see the game.

£40 is just too much for a pay to play game.

How about thinking about it this way.....

They are a small bunch who have invested LOTS of money into the game and are at the stage where they need to start receiving income?

They are an independent studio with no publisher backing which means they get to do EXACTLY what they want with the game without having someone like Activision telling them what they can/cant do and taking most of the profits from the game.

I wish Star Vault the best of luck with what WILL BE a ground breaking MMO and to show my support, have purchased the game :)

I just can't afford €50 at the moment, which is a real pity. By the time I get around to buying it I imagine there'll be high levels permanently camped around the noob zones making life miserable for anyone trying to start.

I am holding off buying for the moment, its sounding promising , something more along the lines of the utterly superb best mmo of all time imo UO (I feel for any mmo player who never got to experience UO in its prime, if they had they might see what is possible in mmos and why so many modern mmos are so restrictive and linear).

However, I want to wait a little bit longer yet to see how it develops over the next 3 months before jumping in. I've been sucker punched more than once by the ocuk mmo hype machine where everyone on here raves about an mmo for a few weeks, then I join and a month after there are only 3 or 4 people on here left playing and all the others have left for something else. So from now on I err on the side of caution :)
