I dont think you probably would, with a million quid. I guess you mean rather more than if you were a "millionaire", as all that would net you is a decent 4-5 bed in a decent village in the home counties.

Without looking around and off the top of my head, somewhere like Findon Village or Valley, or even High Salvington (Worthing, West Sussex area). Perfectly good enough for me. I doubt I would live abroad.
