Educate the uneducated. Turbo'ing an NA car.

I had a 1994 Civic VTi some years ago which I decided to turbo. The car was about 240bhp and was a lot of fun to drive. I do regret spending so much on an old Civic but also glad to have experienced it.

There you go lol

Are you the guy who was on ITR-DC2.com? ITR-Nick, also had a 98 Spec DC2? I joined there nearly 6 years ago and was a member for quite a while - Jonny SiR-G

You'll need to alter the compression, hence the compression plate. Very few cars can get away without a compression plate. If you've turbo'd an NA car without one, good luck to you. :p

Rofl for anyone clinging on to the idea that the MG brand was any good, even it going bankrupt did not give a clear enough indication that the cars were rubbish.

ROFL for uninformed opinions. Bankruptcy was at least as much down to the poor business management as the popularity of the cars.

if your asking whats needed tbh just get a kit thats available for your engine

the sad fact is without a lot of money spent doing internals its a prety pointles exercise as it will just be unreliable as an everyday car

Sorry but most decent engines would handle a small amount of boost reliably as long as they were mapped right.

I only blew mine as I boosted before it was mapped, after the rebuild it would have been able to handle up to 400 bhp.

wrong!

not having a compression plate just limits the amount of boost you can run on pump fuel.

many many cars can run without one, yes you are very limited on boost but then it depends how much power you want

I'd say:

Mandatory:
- ECU remap
- Exhaust manifold
- Decat (either standalone or part of manifold)
- Induction kit
- Bigger injectors
- Intercooler

Desireable:
- Uprated brakes, clutch, suspension

Supporting mods for sure. Braking, suspension.

Also lol at sweeping statements to the tune of "All N/A engines cannot take boost without work/reliability issues/etc etc"

I drive the Gooon of course I'm beyond hope. Theres no need to be scared of meeting it on track, its only a rusty unreliable slow MG :p

It's a shame you didn't start off with something good and the modify that so it was unrecognisable performance wise to its manufacturers spec!
