For the last three years I've been studying Media Production at Coventry University. Whilst studying I also set up my own photography business and spent my free time assisting established photographers (Chase Jarvis, Joe McNally, David Hobby and Julian Love for anyone who knows their photogs).

I never really felt as though I gave uni my full attention because my passion is my photography and I felt as though I could never give my business it the time it deserved because of my studies. Last year I considered leaving Uni and concentrating on working full time as I got to the stage where I was turning down good jobs due to not being able to have the time off from Uni. After that I began to resent my education a little, however I would always try to link my studies and my work wherever I could. That's not to say I didn't give 110% to whatever I did, I just had to force myself to work to that capacity in my studies.

For my final project I decided to shoot a body of work that I could use in my professional portfolio as well as putting it towards my degree, so I shot an Audi R8 that belongs to a friend of mine and produced a behind the scenes video of the shoot.

Today everything paid off when I received this message:

"You have been awarded the Bachelor of Arts with Honours First Class in Media Production."

I didn't think it would mean as much as it has, after I called my family to tell them how I'd done I welled up and actually started to cry and laugh at the same time...very, very strange emotions but it's just made everything worthwhile.

It also came on the same day that I moved in to my new office and officially started working full time. A new chapter in my life has begun.

Congrats mate, thoroughly well done. I'm a mature student with the Open Uni and I'm half way through a BA in History, and I'm finding it really tough going if I'm honest. Trying to balance my study with everything else as you do, so I can imagine what you must be feeling right now.

Thanks guys - it's been tough at times but this has made it all worthwhile. There's two bottles of Champagne on ice as we speak!

Just watched your video and found it interesting throughout.

I've seen quite a few 3rd year media production work back in Lincoln, and so often even in pre-record work there is a high amount of tediousness and bad editing. I have to say you've avoided that and the shots at the end look class - I bet that was fun to do.

when i saw Media Production i thought ohh no another mickey mouse degree and its going to use it in any shape or form, but how wrong i was! congrats dude, keep up the good work and every success with the company!

Well done Adam. I remember seeing your friend about your video and looked awesome. Never knew you were still at uni.

How on earth you afford those 5dMk2 and those L lenses?

Congrats man! It's always a great relief when hard work pays off. The evening after my last exam I had for my MSc. this year I actually came home to my gf, was fine for a couple of hours then just broke down. Just so many bottled up emotions I really couldn't tell whether I was relieved, upset or what. I just cried for 5 minutes straight and couldn't stop.
