For the last three years I've been studying Media Production at Coventry University. Whilst studying I also set up my own photography business and spent my free time assisting established photographers (Chase Jarvis, Joe McNally, David Hobby and Julian Love for anyone who knows their photogs).
I never really felt as though I gave uni my full attention because my passion is my photography and I felt as though I could never give my business it the time it deserved because of my studies. Last year I considered leaving Uni and concentrating on working full time as I got to the stage where I was turning down good jobs due to not being able to have the time off from Uni. After that I began to resent my education a little, however I would always try to link my studies and my work wherever I could. That's not to say I didn't give 110% to whatever I did, I just had to force myself to work to that capacity in my studies.
For my final project I decided to shoot a body of work that I could use in my professional portfolio as well as putting it towards my degree, so I shot an Audi R8 that belongs to a friend of mine and produced a behind the scenes video of the shoot.

Today everything paid off when I received this message:
"You have been awarded the Bachelor of Arts with Honours First Class in Media Production."
I didn't think it would mean as much as it has, after I called my family to tell them how I'd done I welled up and actually started to cry and laugh at the same time...very, very strange emotions but it's just made everything worthwhile.
It also came on the same day that I moved in to my new office and officially started working full time. A new chapter in my life has begun.
