TomTom iPhone Car Kit and App

Is it really worth the money? £100 for the kit then £53 for the app.

i need a satnav and now have a iphone 4. does the new phone still fit the tomtom even with a bumper on??

anyone used it and think it is easiest to just go this way rather than spending £150 on a new tom tom

The app is fine, just like a regular tomtom. However I'm not sure if the cradle is worth it, I've certainly never needed it before.

the cradle improves the GPS signal.

Personally I've found the GPS in the iphone4 to be a lot better.

Personally i'd see how you get on with just the software and if needed purchase the cradle.

Dont think its even compatible with the iPhone 4 - both in size but Im sure Ive read the phone doesnt recognise it as a GPS device...

I don't think it's compatible with the iPhone 4 and it definitely won't work with the bumper. Coming from someone who owned a 3GS and TomTom cradle I sold the lot and got the iPhone 4. The gps is far better on the iPhone 4 and it's like I'm using the 3GS with the cradle again. I'd save your money and get a cheap cradle off the bay, which is compatible with your iPhone 4 + bumper

The cradle is really only useful for the iPod Touch which lacks the GPS chip.

I've got a general PDA/ mobile phone holder which clamps the phone in place regardless of size.

May use some as its assisted gps i believe so it uses 3G. Can anyone else confirm this?

If you use it a lot, just get a dedicated TT.
I tried to replace my satnav with the TT and holder, it was not good for 8hrs a day use.
Ended up going back to my TT and selling the holder on.

Wouldn't know as I only have a 3gs. I expect that they will release an iPhone 4 one sometime.

Not forgetting that co-pilot for the whole of USA is only 2.99 at the moment, worth buying even if you only go once. We go every couple of years, it'll save having to hire one or take my own satnav.

Do the Sat Nav apps use the web? Roaming Charges make me cry
