Facebook Saddos @ BBC Sport

Everyone I know uses Facebook. It's here to stay and I imagine companies want to see if they can use it as a springboard for their services or products. I can't say I find it annoying.

I have zero interest in Facebook/Twitter etc. I will never sign up to any such service as I value my personal privacy far too much ;) I find it extremely irritating that more and more companies use these 'Social Networking' sites and expect customers to sign up for them.

First and foremost they are both private companies and _not_ web standards. You don't actually need them in order to make your views known to the BBC, and yes, they are promoting them ad infinitum. The BBC was perfectly well able to connect with its viewers with good old e-mail and "contact us" forms (or even BBC blogs).

bbc has its own forum aswell something they dont promote and leave hidden

No FriendFace account for me, thanks!

Would get me into way too much trouble, and I don't want different groups of friends mixing!

The BBC recently announced as part of their efficiency plan that they would not be creating or maintaining any social networking services of their own and would increase dependence on third party tools.

We have regular "Why should I pay my TV Licence" / "The BBC are wasting my money" / "The BBC are evil" threads... This is a drive to get more value from BBC Online.

BBC editorial guidelines on use of social media available here.

Probably anyone spends more time with real life friends rather than sat on home on networking sites.

18,500 posts on an overclocking 'networking site' chatting with people you don't know isn't sadder than using Facebook? ;)

Yup,

I think only one of my friends doesn't have a facebook account.. But he doesn't use computers, so doesn't care etc.

I laugh when people hate it and all things about it, they seem to have a stronger hate for it than satan himself
