Half-Life 2 it is then.
Just buy the Orange box
Very tempted but with Starcraft II just round the corner I want to keep a few pennies aside for that.

anyone else remember getting HL2 on release day and it being borked by audio stuttering and long load times. my current rig eats it for breakfast and so its far more enjoyable

I remember when HL2 was released. I got so excited I feigned illness at work, rushed home and had to fap before install to take the edge off my excitement. Unfortunately I couldn't get it to play on my crappy rig back then. Wasted fap.

As for system spec, remember getting that game when I had a ATI 9700pro, with 2GB memory or was it 1GB I had? Anyhow, just remember playing the game in 1024 x 768 and even then it would slow down in places..
now, even with all the updates the game has had, my current rig, and even my laptop eats it up at 1920 x 1080 with full details and 4 x AA etc...
Excellent game, and stood the test of time well. Still looks fantastic, even to this day. Best single player FPS ever IMO..

You'll end up getting Ep1 and 2 anyway, and this way you get a lower price, Portal and TF2.
I think I may have episode 1? I'll check when I get home.

All the Half Life 2 games are excellent! I just bought Half-Life 1 in the sale, so going to play that when I get my PC back. Has to be played in 22" glory instead of this crap laptop screen. When playing Half-Life 2, it has to be played in order! Definitely.

I've downloaded the original Half-Life 2, really looking forward to that later.
System should run it fine. At least it better had as it's only two weeks old.
