Hi guys,

I've decided to do a bit of reading again.....

I loved the first Andy McNab books, the 'factual' ones, eg Bravo two Zero and Immediate Action. I read one of the latter books, I think Remote Control, and didn't really enjoy it.

Anyone got any recommendations for me?!

Thanks,

Mal

Forgot to say, not that interested in the World War 2 books etc. Sort of things I'd enjoy reading would be Gulf War, Falklands War etc. They need to be British also, about British units.

Cheers!

If you don't mind me ignoring all your requirements ;)

Panzer Commander by hans von luck.

Ditto:
The Last Enemy by Richard Hillary
Saggitarius Rising by Cecil Lewis
Berlin/Stalingrad by Antony Beevor
D Day by Stephen Ambrose
The Most Dangerous Enemy by Stephen Bungay
Das Boot by Lothar-Günther Buchheim
Slightly Out of Focus by Robert Capa
Homage to Catalonia by George Orwell

(that's some of my collection) ;)

Sniper One - Sgt Dan Mills

Was a great read I thought. Factual written by a guy out there(Gulf War2) in a sniper team obviously.

Apache Dawn - Damien Lewis

I know you said no WW2 but please consider Band of Brothers - Steven Ambrose. Excellent book, inspired the series etc.

As people have said I'll recommend these WWII books, but they are fantastic books.

Berlin/Stalingrad by Antony Beevor
Pegasus bridge by Stephen E. Ambrose
Band of Brothers by Stephen E. Ambrose

The Forgotten Soldier by Guy Sajer

Enemy at the Gates The Battle for Stalingrad by William Craig

The Naked and the Dead by Norman Mailer

Another vote for sniper one, this book has been lent to loads of peeps at work and they all agreed its great.

Currently reading Lone Survivor, about a Seal team that get wiped out bar one guy, thats also another good book.
