These are being reported on a few websites but i haven't been able to find proof as yet on mclarens own website, although i was kind of distracted by the style your own thing they have, its also a tad odd that mclaren took a while after the cars effective press launch to release any figures.

> 3.8-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 delivers 600bhp and 443lb ft of torque
> Under 300g/km CO2; the lowest emissions per horsepower of any car in the world
> 0-125mph in less than 10 seconds
> Top speed of more than 200mph
> Standing quarter mile in about 11 seconds
> 125-0mph in less than 5 seconds
> 62-0mph in less than 3 seconds/30m

(from the telegraph)

Also a 0-60 in less then 3s with launch control is also being reported by auto blog.

The closest iam getting to one though is if it turns up in a GT game.

Also some sweet photoshops of the possible GTR race version.

This sentence has no place in the specs of a sports car, this means they compromised power/speed/something to get the emissions down :( yet another company catering to the man made global warming myth :(

Not neccesarily. Whilst I hate to mention BMW on these forums look at the 330i - 173g/km yet the most powerful non M Series normally aspirated 3 litre engine the company has ever produced for routine production at 272bhp. Stunning stuff*

*Except everyone still bought a 320d instead, so they've stopped making it as a saloon.

its actually a bit of a cheat as its 'emissions per horsepower' and as the horsepower is fairly high at 600 its a bit skewed.

Also i have no idea of top speed but it would guess a nudge over 210/215.

Depends how the efficicency scales - whilst it may be efficient when producing 600bhp at full chat- how efficient will it be when producing 50bhp when your in a tailback?

welcome to the 21st century, where unfortunately it has to, because in a few years the European Government is going to start fining the car makers per car they sell when the average co2 output of their range is above the EU set limit.

Should the Co2 targets be there in the first place ? probably no. We'll look back in hundreds of years and laugh, just like we laugh now at the scientists of the time that were so sure the world was flat.

But for the time being ,if you want to see a mclaren at all, they will need to keep their Co2 emissions down.

Why? Is oil not running out then?

I don't see the problem with stating how efficient it is per horse power, seriously whats the issue? The thing is still kicking out around 600 bhp so it's no McLaren bluemotion and if I was fortunate enough to own one I'd like the tank to last as long as possible, I honestly don't see the downside, it seems the anti-hippy brigade have become as ignorant and sensationalist as the hippy brigade.

Anyway the car looks fantastic and the stats seem impressive, hopefully it will be a hit.

Lol you got to love when people whinge about things like this
Ermmmmmm did you miss the line that said 600hp or..... Let's get some perspective here they've not exactly created a prius have they

Then there is this rumour from autocar-

http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsArticle/AllCars/251063/

New succesor to the mclaren f1 in design phase.

''McLaren insiders have told Autocar, however, the firm is working flat-out on a new F1, a car described as a “revolutionary” hypercar and one which will be instantly recognisable as such. This is in contrast to the MP4-12C, which has been criticised for its unadventurous styling.''

Such a generic looking car, nothing special about it. Hope the F1 replacement is better, and that autocar 'shop is hilarious.

I think mclaren went a bit too far with function over form, ok you may be proud of the aero figures and thats nice bit a bit less 'meh' on the styling please.

Although I think this is a fair point, the pictures of it from Goodwood in orange make it look fantastic I think, and the back end is quite unusual looking to be fair.
