yea. you gotta get the main app and then get the plugin for the type of game you want to play. eg scumm plugin for scumm engine games. all is on the market

just need to get the games from elsewhere , i mean from draw full of old floppy disks

I have been having problems with the phone not sleeping correctly. So I have been experimenting with the following firmware:

"Rooted" R2BA020 / 23
Generic UK R2BA020
Global R2BA023

All of the above I performed a factory reset and the set the APN and correct time and left them over night to see the battery loss. All of them on average used about 40% battery in around 8 hours.

I have then tried R2BA023 Nordic and it seems to have cured my problems, the phone now goes to sleep correctly using the same test. So far its only dropped 2% in 9 hours and its now sleeping correctly.

On a different note, my X10 Mini is on 97% battery and its been on without a charge for 2 days now. :D

Is the R2BA023 available for the UK via OTA, SE Update or PC Companion.

The last time I tried only 020 was available but have since rooted to 023, just curious.

Also how did you update to the Nordic version.

Cheers

R2BA020 is the current highest version of the UK firmware. I believe its only available OTA the the moment.

I use Omnuis to flash to the Nordic R1FB001 and then SEUS to update to R2BA023.

For everyone running the Generic UK firmware, is your phone sleeping correctly? As mine didn't.

My phone seemed fine on the Generic UK and lasted around 2 days with average useage, the only reason I rooted to 023 was for the superior in-call volume.

How does the Nordic 023 compare to the rooted 023??

Sorry to wander in here with complete ignorance but I'm looking at possibly getting an Xperia but have never used one and just glanced at the thread was wondering what are it's main bad points if any?

The other option was a 3gi but the naff battery puts me off but as I'm on orange these are my top 2 choices at the moment for an upgrade.

Only real bad point is that it is currently behind the curve in android OS upgrades. However (other than the nexus one) will catch up when it gets an update to 2.1 in Q3 this year. With HTC looking to rollout 2.2 on their devices before christmas (i.e. Q4), it is possible it will catch up.

The only other negative of bad battery life has been resolved in the newest update.

The launcher was a bit bad, but now you can use the much better launchers available in the market, which imo are better than the sense implementation.

This is this conclusion from TechRader:

We liked :D

Where do we start? The WVGA high resolution screen is just great - responsive, expansive, and capable of displaying a large amount of information with little hassle.

The 1GHz processor has again been used well - most action whipped along with very little hint of lag or judderiness to annoy us.

The Timescape overlay might be a little bit lightweight, but quickly becomes useful when you get the point of its function - to simply keep you updated. We'd have liked something a little more interactive - being able to click links in a tile would have been nice - but beyond that we enjoyed it.

Mediascape was also a powerful application for the entertainment side of things, offering far more than we've ever seen before from Android in terms of organising music, video and photos.

The camera, an 8MP effort with flash, was great too - we've not seen much to match it, although we would have liked to be able to fiddle with the settings a little bit more to craft our snaps better.

And of course, the Xperia X10 also made use of things like the excellent Android web browser, the easy-to-use menu system and accessing the Application Market to improve the functionality of the phone instantly - we're glad to see Sony Ericsson is finally on board with the Google wagon.

We disliked :(

Sadly, Sony Ericsson built a few too many issues into the Xperia X10, something we're growing too used to saying with its phones.

The main culprit is the on-screen keyboard - it's awful. After a week's use, we were becoming more adept at it, but it still required a great deal of focus and effort to stay accurate.

The lag on the menu system when using Timescape as your home screen was ridiculous, and the slowdown when not employing any kind of task killer was almost terminal at times - we think some people will have a real problem with this.

Battery life is a little on the suspect side too, with a day's use the normal amount you can expect from the 1500mAh unit.

Audio quality on phone calls was also too quiet for our tastes, with people constantly being difficult to hear even in quieter situations.

However, you may read may reviews like this as Sony Ericsson in there infinite wisdom sent the handsets out on pre release firmware or R1BA014 which did have a few issues.

Now, since then Sony Ericsson has rolled out over 5 updates depending on the region which has fixed all the above problems. The current firmware for a Generic UK handset is R2BA020, it and flies.

This then leaves the 2 main reasons people avoid the phone, multi touch and it runs Android 1.6 and give it allot of unnecessary stick! Android 2.1 is due on the handset in Q3 (July, August, September) which isn't too far away now and there are a few rumours flying around that it will get the update in August.

Multi touch, this has caused Sony Ericsson allot of stick as well and may have cost them few sales over to HTC. So if you look at this properly, Apple has a patent over Multi touch and seem to sue anyone that uses just look at all the caught cases between Apple and companies. SE has also stated that the hardware doesn't support multi touch.

However, my take on it is it is a patent issue and a few testers that are running Android 2.1 for Sony Ericsson are rumoured to have said it does indeed do dual touch.

Id also recommend getting a Unbranded / Generic handset over one from Vodafone / Orange etc... :D

Can someone help me understand why SE still haven't addressed the auto lock after calls? Can it be really that hard to fix!?

My battery is lasting 2 days with ease, light browsing, email, call and text messaging. I doubt it will ever beat my W810i though :D

Auto lock after calls is well annoying :(

Has anyone here changed the colour of the notification bar yet? If so can i have some screenshots please :)

I'm wanting to get mine green!

Has anyone managed to get the copy protected apps issue sorted for R2BA020. Had to do factory reset so definately don't have doodle jump now and it wont even appear as a purchased item in the downloads section

Have you tried setting the screen time out value to a higher value? I suspect its simply locking because while on a call there's no other input and the screen timeout kicks in .

After about a weeks usage, I'm still getting losses of up to 4% per hour with 3g mode enabled. This is with the UK 20 firmware
