Hey guys just got my hands on Windows 7 Home premium and im currently on Vista Home Premium 32bit, but am i right in thinking if i want Windows 7 64bit i am going to have to do a clean install and not just an upgrade?

Thanks :)

Also my dad wants to upgrade from Vista 32bit to Windows 7 64bit, but im not sure if his PC is 64bit compattible! It's a E6600 OC @3.06GHZ and he brought the system (pre built) in May 2007 if that's any help?!

I thought it was the motherboard that has to be 64bit not the CPU

Ohh well you learn something new every day :)

I'm pretty sure that if the motherboard supports a 64 bit processor, and that processor is 64 bit compatible, then all should be fine and dandy. You can always check by following the instructions here. :)

Home now so about to install :)

Should i uninstall as many programmes as possible or just back up the few files i want to keep, pics etc then slam the CD in?

"To install a new copy of Windows, restart (boot) your computer using the installation disc, and then select Custom (advanced)"

Noob alert how do i do that?

in bios, make sure that the top option in the boot priority is the cd/dvd drive. Then just boot up the PC with the windows 7 disk in the drive, and follow the instructions from there :)
