Manhunt in Northumbria on BBC

He could have refrained from using the term 'executed' for a start?

I hope I'm wrong but I fear he is sensing a juicy compensation payout.

I think his interview looks a little rehearsed - its either compensation or guilt -I wouldnt be suprised if it the tabloids had encouraged him as a way of dragging the story out too.

I suspect what actually happened was that he shot himself but retained the gun. The police told him to drop it - he didnt comply so they used the Taser.

End of the day the Police's main consideration was quite rightly to protect themselves and the public.

surely the fact that Moat himself indicated he had no-one close indicated that his family had not been invloved with him for a long period of time, maybe bringing a member of his family that he thought had effectivley abandoned him might have hastened his own suicide or led him to have a shot at the family member...nobody knows and so it probably was better not to get them involved..they hadnt wanted to speak to him for years previously...

Yep it's so easy to second guess the police from an armchair. Supposing the police had let the brother go there, and Raoul Moat shot him? The police would be crucified. Basically in some people's eyes the police are always wrong no matter what they do.

Hopefully the brother will realise the reason he saw his brother dispatched on live TV wasn't the fault of the police - Moat brought that on himself - the reason he saw it on TV was the parasitic media in a feeding frenzy with little regard for any ethical or moral behaviour - sue the nuts off them by all means.

In the eyes of some, the police aren't infallible. The trouble is, when mistakes are made accountability is often evaded. John Charles de Menezes is a glaring example of this.
When you consider what this guy had done - or even what he's alledged to have intended, the eventual outcome was far from good.
At least the thirst of the blood thirsty public has once again being quenched, for the time being at least.

Yes I know, and I was critical of the police over that. I don't think anyone has said that the police are infallible or that they shouldn't be held accountable for what they do. But it has to be fair and reasonable, not an hysterical witch hunt.

The de Menezes shooting was worse because they shot an entirely innocent man, and then the head of the police, Ian Blair, released a load of lies about it to the media.

I don't see any parallels between that case and this one at this stage.

Eh? They had a taser shot gun site (Was a clip of police officer putting it into rear of car)

What else is a taser shot gun used for?

I see. Perhaps I misread your original post or it wasn't worded as to distinguish a standard 12 bore shotgun or the same which is used for Taser round discharge. I thought you meant discharge a standard shotgun round at him which wouldn't happen and rightly so.

Either way, I get you now.

Actually, the reality is that the Police aren't infallible - that's a fact. They are human and as prone to making errors as any of us. As well as being prone to making mistakes, some of them are, to varying degrees, dishonest and corrupt. This is all in the public arena, it shouldn't be news to any of you.

That said, I believe the vast majority of the Police are honest people who do a good job under difficult circumstances.

Shame we are funding so many still - benefit cheats etc. Would you like to see them all dispatched in such a manner?

Yes please, decent late night viewing. Taser a benefit cheat. Where do I sign up?

Better still stick them in a arena and last one standing gets to keep his disability allowance.

You obviously don't live in the real world. ;) Have you thought of claiming disability benefit? :p
