Can anyone explain exactly what restrictions there are in terms of weapon ownership for the holder of a UK FAC? For example, would it be possible to legally own a 9mm semi-automatic pistol and/or a 5.56mm or 7.62mm semi-automatic rifle?

I haven't decided whether or not to make an application yet, I just want to know whether it's going to be worthwhile.

I know H&K have a Civilian Sales section, but I can't seem to find anyone in the UK that sells H&K - why is this?

I quite like the look of this:

I thought it was illegal to own any type of pistol these days.

What do you want them for?

Well for starters you can't own Pistols in the UK full stop AFAIK and I doubt you would be allowed something like the rifle you suggested either...

No you cannot own a 9mm pistol! Pistols are generally section 5 (prohibited) and unless you need one as a vet or gamekeeper as a humane dispatch firearm it's a no go (even then they are single shot). You can get long barrelled pistols though, don't know much about these though.

Semi-auto is a full ban, except for .22lr which is the only caliber allowed in semi-auto.

You can own a 5.56mm/.223 or 7.62mm/.308 in bolt action or single shot, and for each calibre you want you need to justify a reason for having it. For example to get a 308 you would need to have deer shooting permissions & experience or have a shooting club membership.

If you can justify a legal section 1 calibre then you can get it as a slot on your FAC, even up to .50 cal if you have a suitable target range to hand.

You will not be able to own any form of pistol, they are effectively completely banned.

Semi automatic rifles are restricted to .22 rimfire calibres.

So no neither of those weapons would be usable here :p

The Rifle Club I am joining have .303 rifles and (I think) 7.62mm sniper rifles, so it must be possible to own weapons of that calibre on an FAC or the club wouldn't have them. I can see the 'semi-auto' aspect may be an issue though.

Indeed, semi automatic weapons are limited to .22 calibre.
