What is the best mid range card out there just now? looking to spend about 100, 150 at a stretch.
It will be going along with an i5 750 and my screen is 1680 x 1050. I want to be able to run games decent enough without a whole load of faffing around. I play mainly on consoles anyway, but want to be able to play some PC games now and then.

Cheers :)

Well:) today i got a 5770 and i am happy with it. Its only a stop gap card till i get a new 59 but still its one i would buy again.

Or a 460 for about £150 but you might need a new PSU

I assume Danny means a 5970 judging the fact that he refers to his newly aquired 5770 as a stop gap.

On topic, the 460 gives a lot of performance for it's price.

I'm not sure you would want to get a video card with less then 1Gb of VRAM which is a potential bottleneck in some new games. The HD5770 is worth a look, it might even come down in price thanks to the GTX460 and you can always Crossfire them latter on if you want.

It's all down to the resolution you play at, anything with less than 1GB will encounter performance loss at 1920x1200 but should be fine at 1680x1050 at below.
