No More PC ZONE.

Not surprising unfortunately, they were second best (in terms of sales, I'm not playing fanboy here) to PC Gamer who are on the same books for Future Publishing, infact I'm surprised they lasted as long. These sort of magazines have been struggling lately with broadband improving (thus rendering DVDs useless for vast majority of users) and increased quality of writing on the internet alternatives. Doesn't help that PC gamers are quite technically minded so they do know about the all the vast review sites available and doesn't matter how well you write it, £6 a month isn't seen as the best way to spend money now. I think PC Gamer may still have some steam left in its paper variant at least for near future but it really needs to start looking at the e-reader potential. Without printing costs and DVD if they manage to reduce their subscription costs to a few quid then I may consider it as long as it's written well.

A shame. Although inevitable as said.

I used to get PCZONE a lot during the early 00's. Still have most of them somewhere in fact. Was a great and enjoyable read at that time.

RIP PC Zone.

They'd probably have survived longer if they stopped trying to add an obsolete cd and wack on an extra 3 pounds.

Used to love PC Zone in the early days, really well written , really funny and very accurate. Will always remember their 2 page review of Frontier Elite which just had a huge picture of a turd as a background. Sadly the magazine quality and the quality of its reviews really degraded badly over time and it was never as good as the early days again.

Inevitable really. I was subscribed until a year or so ago but it's just easier (and cheaper) to get game reviews and demos from the Internet.

Yeah i remember buying this around 99-2003. I stopped buying most magazines for £4-7 when i realised that the internet had much more info and demos and was more up to date.

I was a subscriber for years and years, in the good old days that magazine was absolutely brilliant the quality of the writing was imense and the staff absolutely brilliant. Sadly the decline was inevitable as the big guns moved onto bigger and better things and eventually a couple of years ago I cancelled. The long term future for printed magazines isn't great I used to have 3 or four subscriptions to different things but now have none.

Unfortunately due to the internet some magazines will have to close down. Nothing beats imo free websites such as gametrailers for video reviews or ign or gamespot for written reviews.

Also cost, I think most magazines cost around £5 which is a lot for teenagers imo.

I really liked reading gaming magazines when I was a teenager.Game demos on cds were awesome as that was the only way of obtaining them, sometimes you could even get a full version of a decent game.

A shame but game magazines became very expensive. I stopped regularly buying them some years ago. Just get the odd few per year now to see what they are like.

Unfortunately it's all the internets fault. Why did they have to bring out the internet? It's only full of trolls and people who say "unfortunte" whenever something moves on.

Ow wait.

tbh, I thought people stopped reading this 10 years ago

RIP the greatest pc gaming mag :(

did my best to prop it up back when i was still buying pc mags. Always snubbed pcg for pcz. Which imo was far superior.

Wow! When are they planning on telling their current subscribers :(

I'm pretty sure they didn't mention it in the current issue?!

There was a tweet from them last night but I didn't get the chance to check it out...

Shame, but inevitable. It's been in decline for years now.

Been reading this since back in the 90's along with PC Gamer and recently sacked PC Gamer but continued my PC Zone subscription. Looks like I might have to re-subscribe to PC Gamer, but hey, at least I'll get a free gift.

For those saying magazines are out of date, that's nonsense, you can't read the internet whilst having a poo (well, technically you can, but you don't really want to take your laptop to the toilet with you!).

I do buy it occasionally but the price is just too much, especially since i always bin the dvd when it gets home, £6 is just too much for a magazine.

It's a shame because i'd buy it if they offered no-disk subscriptions like they used to for a reduced cost.
