Hey doing a fat upgrade just need some advice.

I'm gonna go with i7 920 and p6t deluxe oc palm ed. Due to budget (650 for CPU, PSU, RAM, mobo and h50 cooler). I'm looking to slap it onto 4 ghz for games and stuff and needed help on ram choice and PSU.

I am looking to eventually add 2 5870's in crossfire so I need to know how big yo make the psu. I also don't understand all the ddr3 ram timings and stuff so what would fit best within the budget? Sorry for bad typing, psu died took a few friends with it so I have to use the iPhone to type.

Around 650 - 750w for PSU will be fine. Look at Corsair, Bequiet and Antec do reasonable psu.

AMD reccomends atleast 600W for the PSU. You will also need 4 x 6-pin connectors on the PSU, just something to look out for :).

Yeah sorry I checked on the ATI website and it has the AMD logo in the corner so I instinctly just said AMD, sorry about that!

Okay the antec truepower mentioned has 2 6 pin and 2 8 pin connectors...can I still stick 2 5870's on it in xfire? Also further reading on the motherboard reveals it has no CMOS reset button - is there still a jumper of sorts on the board?

Yeah the 8-pin connectors will have detachable pins to make them 6-pins. There should always be a way of resetting the cmos, in my case I believe its through a jumper.

Okay thanks - last few questions.

Does the h50 manual tell you how to set up a push/pull config?

Can the p6t deluxe oc palm edition sustain 4 ghz on an i7 920 constantly?

Will I need anti static equipment to pull this off safely being my first time n all...

If the H50 doesn't come with one i'm sure you'll be able to find some useful infromation from the people in the cooling section or elsewhere on the internet.

I'm not too sure on the second question but I know that the 920 is a fantastic overclocker and the P6T Palm OC is designed for overclocking so I guess its a good combination!

I had an antistatic wriststrap for my first build but it was awkward to clip it on to somewhere suitable and when I finally found somewhere it kept flinging off so I just didnt bother.

Hope that helps :)
