best Graphics card you have ever used

8800GT was pretty sweet - hard to argue with them in SLI even today in SLI they'll give current cards a good run for the money.

7950GX2 was great at the time.

Ati 9800pro for me as i came from a nvidia mx420 and got a brand new pc with 9800pro in it on its release. Its still the biggest leap in gaming performance i have ever had. Other favourite would be 1900xtx.

i have fond memories of the 9500Pro - she popped me vid bios flashing cherry. Oc'd like a demon. Also the 7900GTO was a great performer - oc'able to 7900GTX speeds.... alas she died. Of course the 8800GTS 640MB, Oc'd to 8800GTX levels was spactacular....

but all in all, the best card I have ever had is my current one... hd5850 oc'd well past 5870 speeds!

ATI 9500 pro, used it for years and wore out 2 fans on it and at the time was the most I had ever spent on a graphics card.

Probably my gtx 280, sadly though it died. Replaced with a gtx 275 then added another for sli.

Depends what you mean, for me it was voodoo 1 and 2 , coming from 2d card to VD1 was such a big jump for me.

Playing quake one again with VD1 was amazing and q2 was so nice, those 2 things stick in my mind.

for me i what ever i was playing really

1:- going from 2d card to voodoo was a big step
2:- v1 to v2
3:- not sure what card i had at time could be GF1, first time i played EQ running around in a 3d world was mind blowing
4:- loved my 9800 pro

The cards i've had the most fun out of were the Geforce Ti4400 and the Geforce 7900GT
I feel the GTX 285 will be my final graphics card, It does all I need it to. With most games on the PC being first person shooters(which I hate) I don't really need anything faster. If it dies i've got the 8800 Ultra to fall back on.

I got a water cooled 7950gx2 for a steal (£180 IIRC) just before the 8800's hit and I must admit it could kick arse in some of the SLI optimised games. Great card for the money.

Its a tough choice but I think I would have to say a X1950XT 512MB with AC cooling was the best £140 I have ever spent on a GPU. Second would be a Hercules GeForce 2, overclocked like crazy.

Suppose it was my Diamond V770 TNT2 Ultra - at the time the fastest card. Then the next card I had that was pretty good for me was GF3 Ti200, not the fast but a worthy upgrade, and finally a 7800GTX.

The highest spec card I've played on is a 4850

first place would go to my old 9800 Pro - because it was good enough to game for years
Second place would be my old 8800 GTX for the same reason

a good graphics card is one that can give good frame rates for years even on newer games.

hoping my 5870 will follow suit.

My 7900gt was one of my best but I'm loving this 4870X2 I managed to get cheap. For the money I paid it's brilliant albeit hot and power hungry. It'll tide me over nicely until the 6xxx series comes out.

Oh come on guys is there know one here who used the original 3D accelerator cards back in the 90's? Does the name 3DFX Voodoo 1 ring a bell? Has there ever been a piece of technology since then that has made such a drastic change to how video games look?
