Returning to Warhammer

t4 sucked end off didnt help that the classes werent anywhere near balanced those massive nerfs shouldnt have been happening barely after retail launched and i expect it was one of the big reasons the game failed so hard
 
Played war through beta and from release for the first 3 weeks before i get sick and tired of it. Went back 6 months later and nothing had changed at all and the only patch coming out was gonig to break the game terribly in most peoples eyes. Quite frankly the game is run by monkeys and will never ever do well. A really good concept, executed horribly.

The most fun you can have out of war is by rerolling alts and doing t1 and t2 again because they are the only fun bits of the game. Once you hit t3 it turns into a real bore. The good skills start coming out but unfortunetly there is hardly anyone at t3 to use them on and untill you get at least mid way through it a lot of people will likely be vastly outpowering you. I discovered this particularly as a shaman, who i loved the concept of. My best skills were starting to come through but sadly I was a few levels short and was being pummelled into the ground as a result. It wasn't so bad with my iron breaker but when I revisited I noticed that they nerfed him so bad he wasn't fun to play anymore because I stoped being able to really be much of a threat as i'd of had to have gone even further up the leveling tree to get any decent crowd controll and my damage was petiful. Used to have skills that hit over 300, they got nerfed down to not even worth bothering firing off.

That was my experiance of the game anyway.

Recently went back myself, nothing has changed really. Ran about with my 40 DoK did some RvR, just no reason to continue with it. Levels 1-20 are some of the best you can have on an mmo if you like PvP, once you hit T2/3 all just becomes a slog and quite unbalanced. Shame really some great ideas like the PQ system. I gave up when the devs all announced they played and prefered Order

Don't like the idea of dev's having favourites in an mmo, class or side. Even if they did they really shouldnt have told us. Would always come back and bite them when doing balance changes. Damn Bright Wizard :P

Still its a great mmo if you like PVP. The 40k one looks like the next step
 
I keep looking back at Warhammer, probably every 6 months, really hoping everytime that it's better and the kinks are gone. Never is though. Probably the biggest let down of a MMO I've ever experienced. Putting my hopes into the 40k mmo now :)
 
Release date for it is something daft like 2013 though.
Luckily we should have Guild Wars 2 before then to tide us over.
 
Been playing Tier 4 with the 100% bonus renown, which has helped a lot as a healer. Has got me to Conqueror's armour set level.

Not being in a guild I've been limited to pickup group warbands, and as a result the RvR has started to tire me with the continual to and throwing of capturing targets every day. As there's no real incentive or abilitiy to hold on to them in the game.

Don't think I'll put any subs on once bonus time ends, as would be bored silly getting to realm rank 80 without the 100% bonus. Also the most progressive pushes seem to happen when I'm not online.

It's all dependant on warbands and leadership, but would still get bored of repetitive grinding.

Yeah, the game really needs incentives as to why you would want to hold onto certain bases. It really needs a linked system with bases somehow providing unique important purpose/bonuses like Planetside did. Not sure how you'd go about it in WAR though.
 
Haha i remember before the game was launched many on here were blabbing on about how WAR was gonna destroy WoW!

That would be crazy thinking, a PvP MMO will never "destroy" WoW. There are always more PvE players than PvP players. Many MMOers dont like PvP, they prefer AI scripted mobs and balanced numbers esport style instanced "conflict". The greatest most amazing PvP MMO ever could come along, something with the PvP awesomeness like Daoc was and it still wouldnt destroy WoW because most MMOers prefer WoWs style of gaming.

Its all about playing the game which most suits your needs.

What we need is it going back to having separate games for separate needs.
Like PvE people went to Everquest and PvP people went to DAoC.
Now we just really have wow trying to please everyone (which is an impossible task for any game/company), and constantly having balance issues between PvE changes and PvP changes.
