So I have been having intolerably poor battery life recently.. its always been bad tho and I find myself not using my phone more and more because it won't make it through the dat if I use it like I did my iPhone

So is there a more powerful battery available (ie off the bay) or should I just get a less powerful handset and call it quits with high end. Smart phones until batteries catch up?

Opinions? I know others have this but maybe not as bad.

less powerful handset

the higher powered batterys are either huge or they are a total con. sometimes both at once (eg two chinese batteries taped together)

an option id consider would be to get a spare battery and keep it charged

That's a lot of extra hassle tho :/ annoyingly I got this phone to make things easier :/ not worse lol

Also a pity can't get a more powerful battery

Search for '2x NEW 1400MAH BATTERY+ CHARGER FOR HTC DESIRE BRAVO UK' On the bay.

I always have a battery @ 100%, Charger in the house and this one for work.

It's just a real annoyance cause I have a case on.. have to turn off the phone and change batteries and close it all back up..

10 hours really is dire for jot much use :/

How do you use it like your iphone? apps wise, hours etc? Desire battery life is generally about the same as the iphones, if it's not there may be a problem with it and/or some things you may be able to do to use less battery.

I've only recently got mine, and I'm using it heavily, i.e games music web, and I charge it at night and get about 10hrs.
If your not using it, then it could be a bad battery.

Today went like this..

Was 100% this morning ..played a light wifi game for bout 25 mins, turned off wifi and turned on gprs.. went to work, checked emails and stocks via a gadget.. done that a couple of times before lunch.. so 5 mins use.. used it for bout 45 mins at lunch.. browsing on gprs.. back to work amd. Another 5 mins of use, few texts... nothing more, went to the gym and sent a few texts rhere..

battery at 9%

The only thing I can think of is the constant low or no signal at work.. going in and out of it

I have that at my work, but it doesn't drain my N97 battery. I think something is faulty, as a smartphone shouldn't last just 1 day, mine lasts 3 days on light usage ( couple of calls/ texts per day, 25 mb internet per day, and an hour of music) or 2 days with heavy usage ( hours of browsing/music).

I'm guessing the problem is this

With all different apps etc how on earth am I gonna find. Out if its a hardware fault?

Ahh nightmare.. its not a clear cut thing is it :/

That battery life doesnt sound right to me. I get over 30 hours (2x 16 hours days) out of mine easily with moderate usage .. example: an hour or so internet browsing each day, a few short calls and lots of text, checking email a few times and facebook etc.

Maybe one of your apps is peventing the phone from sleeping? Go into settings>about phone>battery and see what your 'awake time' is compared to your 'up time'....... awake time should be a lot lower than the up time.

If it looks like your phone is sleeping ok....
You could also try this: Let the battery run completely down untill the phone switches itself off, then do a battery pull. Put the battery back in and Charge the phone up while its now switched off for at least 5 hours. Some people have found this helped battery life. If it improves things a little for you, repeat this aprox once a month.

Generally I seem to get about the same battery life in my Desire that I used to get in my Nokia n96. The only time I find the battery going down quickly is if im in an area with bad 3g signal and the phone keeps switching between 3g and 2g ... when this happens I select gsm only in the mobile network settings, which solves the problem.

Cheers

Its a pain but only enable 3g/data/wifi as needed rather than leaving on auto/on. Make sure GPS is disabled and restart the phone after using it (commong bug with HTC phones the GPS hardware stays active after being used draining battery unless you restart).

I would love an uber battery for my samsung also. Surely someone must be able to make something better than the standard batter, there must be massive demand. I would pay 3x as much for a battery with twice the juice but still the same size.

2 batteries is a pain in the arse.

Atm I have 4 hours awake time and 12 uptime

I have installed tasker to turn off what I don't need, changed any update things to manual, except weather that has a 3 hour update

I don't want to be too restrictive otherwise I may as well just get a 3gs because the best bit of Android would be unless to me
