Snake loose in the house!

So basically a few weeks ago I got a pet corn snake, then recently, just sitting in the living room, cat charges for the plant in the corner of the room next to the snake tank, look over and the snake is crawling around on top of the plant.
So I rush over, throw the cat out of the room, pick up the snake and put him back in. Had no idea how he got out, checked the tank and everything.

Then about 5 days ago, me and my mum notice we cant see him hiding anywhere in the tank, so I take everything out and have a look round and he is not in there. Now this was almost a week ago, still have no idea where he is, have looked everywhere. But it has been about a week since he has eaten, so going to leave a mouse out to try and tempt him. Quite sure the cat hasn't eaten him, don't think she would eat all of him anyway and I haven't found any dead snake anywhere.

Anyone from OcUK keeps snakes? Anyone got an idea of what to do?

Pics of snake before he escaped, this is when we first got him, he is a little bigger now:

Try tempting him out, a squeezy mouse in one hand with a mallet in the other hand... serious matters you should probably contact whatever organization is responsible for snake collection, I for one would have restless nights knowing there's a snake on the loose.

My mate lost his milk snake in our old uni place they're amazing escapologists. My mate said it happened to one of his friends and he found it hiding under the rim of the toilet, where the water is sprayed out down the bowl.

Thanks to all so far.

I lol'd at the picture of solid snake

Get your snake out and challenge him to a duel. He won't be able to resist.

Hmmm, don't think that will work :p

Haha, threads on GD are brilliant.

Indeed they are :D

Off to check there now!

Just a suggestion - an escaped snake/whatever usually escapes because there's some way for it to escape. A viv may seem secure to you, but to a snake it might not be so difficult to get out from. Have you got a sliding door viv? Try a viv lock if so. Maybe post pictures of the viv so we can see if there are any potential escape routes you may have missed.

How old/big is the snake? Try looking in warm places first. Literally look in/on/under/behind everything (in the sofa, behind/underneath the fridge etc).

Good luck. :)

How do you get to sleep knowing it's on the loose?

There not exactly loyal or would know your the owner.

Thanks for all the info, I forgot to say that I already think I know how he got out, one of the air vents in the back had to be broken a bit, to run the wire for the heatmat, when he got out the first time I checked it, from the inside it seemed fine, but when I checed the back afterhe got out this time I could see that the tape was slightly pushed. It's secrued now though.

Yeah checked most of those places, he is quite young so is small and hard to see.

I hope you find it, do you leave doors/windows etc open so that it may have been able to flee the house?

I don't but other people have, so it is definitely possible.

Haha, funny you should say that, not too long ago my friend was sleeping in the same room as the tank, this was at the same time that he got out the first time I think. Also the girlfriend refuses to come over until it is caught.
