**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

I think the single player is going to be pretty epic actually.

It wont get 100, at least not from the likes of Edge or GamesTM.

I think it'll get a 9.

what gets me is that it put me in gold when before i was in silver at the end of phase1 , i was not in silver long as i got promoted from bronze . will give it another try tonight

I think that's the problem. You're going to have to lose a lot of games to get demoted :)

but keep loosing games will put people off of playing will it not ? , i know it will me after a while

There was a q&a with Blizz earlier today and they said they are going to make the levelling a bit more aggressive before launch. So hopefully when the game goes retail it should be easier to move up and down.

Indeed, I watched it all. Even got some questions answered.

My questions were:

When can we expect to see cross region play? The answer was extremely lame.

DustinB
That's something we want to get to in the future. There are some technical and business challenges for us. We do offer our players different ways to buy and play StarCraft 2 in different areas of the world and we need to work out cross realm play so it is fair to all of our fans around the world.

Then I asked about the cost of the expansions. Dustin said he doesn't know yet, they'll price them based on the amount of content. If there's as much content as Wings of Liberty they'll cost the same.

I asked about map sizes. Dustin mentioned big style 4 player maps that are popular in BW tournaments should be left in tournaments and for pro players to play on. So I asked if there will be any more maps the size of Lost Temple in the ladder map pool. His answer was rubbish, saying "Lost Temple is in the map pool, along with big maps like Desert Oasis". Didn't really answer my question.

And the last question I asked was about the Dark Shrine. I asked if it would ever be scrapped in favour of having DTs built from the Templar Archives like in Broodwar. He said no, that won't happen, if DTs were ever to be buffed we'll decrease the build time of the Dark Shrine or lower the cost.

Some more interesting info was that they will be bringing out a patch catered to tournament organisers and esports followers, saying they'll make it very easy to run tournaments and such. That sounded very promising the way they said it. They also said replay watching with your friends will be coming very soon after release, it's something they really want in the game. Also custom made maps from the community will be added to the ladder map pool if good enough.

Pretty good info. Shame they answered some useless campaign questions and answered a lot of questions more than once. Could've gotten more info if they ignored the duplicates.

They're adding cross region play after release.

Then i think i'll wait until confirmed. What spooked me was that when i went to pre-dl the digital copy, there was all sorts of warnings about region specific and not being able to play cross region.....

But by then the temptation to download from "somewhere else" other than battlenet may be too tempting...

I'd say a solid 90 on metacritic. Higher if it weren't for the lack of LAN/chatrooms and the exclusive region thing... Still hoping they wise-up and fix that stuff at some point.

It's been confirmed by Blizzard multiple times. They're just being vague on when.

Is it true that some 'regions' are having to pay-to-play MP immediately or after a certain "free time" that comes with buying the game? Not only that, but obviously there's been speculation that they're planning on rolling out such periodic pay schemes for all regions in the future.

Anybody have Bobby Kotick's (main..) home address?! ...Only kidding........or am I?

The "having" part is not true. It's an option. There will be 2 copies available to some countries. A pay to play copy which will be cheaper than the normal game and have a limited play time which you can top up. Or they can buy the normal game directly from Blizzard for the normal price.

Im not even bothering with placement matches, there will probably be a reset on the release

Good game earlier kar

Ahh was that with you?

To be honest I played quite bad in that. It's funny I find 3v3s etc quite hard now after playing so much 1v1, there's so much going on that I lose my feel for the game a bit.
