Jesus was one of the most common names at that time.

Not true. No writers contempary with the life of Christ ever mentioned him. Even the earliest bits of the new testament are considered to have been written 50 years or so after his deadth at the very least. The first non biblical source is Josephus in about 90AD or so and there is some dispute over what he actually wrote at that time.

So yes, there is some historical evidence that a man named Jesus lived, but it can certainly be questioned because there isn't a lot of it and it may well have been edited later.
 
We can close this thread as I've just seen Jesus on the tube. He's let himself go a bit and reaked of cheap cider and urine. He did however twitch and yell "GOD" when I poked him with a rolled up metro, so I can confirm he lives.

He was crucified (literally) by the romans.
So christianity and jews celebrate the same person, like the rhyme:
"Roses are reddish, violets are bluish, and if it weren't for christmas you'd all be jewish"
 
Jeshua was Aramean from Galilee, born from parents of Nazarene descent. For the purpose of social profile, popular belief that he was de facto Jewish is about as precise as most Americans presuming Bono is British. Geographically or geopolitically, he was about as Jewish as Sean Connery is English and in terms of language and communication background, his assumed ethnic accent would be to Hebrew, what Fabio Capello does is to Queen's English.

Not that we actually have a proper proof for any of the above, beyond few stories by his mates.
 
By the way, AD means Anno Domini (as mentioned in the OP), and Anno Domini means "in the year of our lord" aka, after the birth of Christ.

No one killed jesus, he never existed in the sense that christians were brought up with, its all a fairy tale. Ironic thing is, if you say you believe in ghosts/aliens, your classed as a nutter, if you dont believe in christ/allah/god/buddha your classed as a blasphemer?
