So who's got an XBOX "Slim" coming this week?

The Xbox will ask to you prepare the flash drive for use when you start to use it, so that'll be fine. Was a fairly straightforward process.

Ok cheers mate...i know i stuck it in the other day on my old elite and it did format it.

Off to get it sorted now:).

Obvious troll is obvious....

How in the blue hell is that trolling? You need to go read 4chan or gametrailers.com forums to see what trolling is.

I am still on the fence about getting a 360 again. Hearing about these cool down problems doesn't really bother me as I never play games in long sessions.

think I might wait for it to drop down to £150 before picking one up. £200 is still a great price but I would just rather spend a little less.

Hmmm i just picked mine up this morning after trading in my elite 120gb...one problem though the new 360 doesnt seem to have any slots for the memory cards so im buggered as all my saves are on my memory card...

I would also rather have a detachable hard drive, in the unlikey event that the new 360 dies I don't want to send off all my saves etc

What happens when you return it and they replace it, will they transfer over your hard drive and saves?

its amazing how many people just go out and buy these blind, i would (and did) do at least some research about it before i went out and purchased a £200 machine.

Received my 360 s today from Amazon. Was despatched on friday and was expecting it on tuesday having only paid for 1st class delivery. Turns out they used some courier instead.

It's whisper quiet and looks excellent but the thing radiates heat like no other. Transferring from my old 250Gb HDD atm then will need to install games again :( .

Just set up the new 360 S now and put a game in and instead of having a loud whooshing sound when the disc is spinning up its a loud low pitched drone and I can feel a fair bit of vibration when i touch the console.

Anyone else have this?

Could it be a faulty drive or maybe just the disc is slightly warped?

I've got it horizontal at the moment so may try it vertical and see if that helps (obviously not while the disc is in though :)

Have to admit, I thought it would be quieter than this!!!

Sunrunner

got mine delivered on launch day and transfered everything via usb fine. Also just took my elite down to a certain GAME store as i pre-ordered over a month ago they gave me £100 for the Elite.

Much quieter and no RROD/RDOD yet lol.

can't believe you can install the game from disc to stop the noise. i ended up picking up an sxbox360 from local store as amazon had problems taking money so it never got ordered any way. very glad i did as played l4d last night and was amazed how quiet it is.

also just fixed first rrod of bro's xbox. can't believe it works now as well so should be good for some online gaming.

OK, will do. Suppose I do have the extra HDD space. Upgraded from a 20Gb version :).

Thanks for the reassurance its not just mine thats doing this!

I have/Did install 28 games to my HDD still with 50gb spare... Going to do it all again later on my replacement... :(

OK, well fingers crossed everything's OK with the new one.

Just tried Red Dead Redemption (which was included in the package) and the DVD drive is loads quieter so may be an issue with the other 2 games not having completely flat discs.

I'll still put it on the HDD though !

The drive will always be noisy, however, I've found that while installing a game with the console in the vertical position, there was a more pronounced high frequency rattle which wasn't there when i tried it horizontally.

The hard drive is removable.. You just pull it out a slot on the side..

;)

Anyhow had to go back with the console to get my stuff transferred over as the usb stick kept asking to be formatted. Thats 3 visits ive had to make:p...luckily my town centre wasnt too busy today.

Anyhow all is fine and downloaded all my DLC that i had on my elite 120gb...have to say im pretty impressed by it...its a lot smaller than the previous one i had and is whisper quiet....couldnt tell it was on until i heard the beep sound it makes...even after that its pretty damn quiet...only thing that concerns me is the casing gets a tad warm-ish but it hasnt shutdown on me yet and thats nearly 2 hrs ive had it on.

The case gets scratched easily lol...for some odd reason i have a few scuffs on the top of my case...dont know if they are scratches or not...god knows how they managed to get there but ill give it a proper clean later. Also this new slim 360 is going to a be a dust magnet thats for sure lol...i like the looks of it plus the added hd space helps a lot...kinda miss the old elite 120gb but am happy with my slim...only had to pay £30 as i traded my elite plus a few games so am happy with that.

Well I got mine yesterday, and nearly done 7 hrs straight on cod mwf2 with no problems at all.

all in all, im well impressed.

A) You can take the hard drive out

B) Get a £4 pen drive and transfers your saves

Stop playing devil's advocate, you're too obvious. :p

Edit: I thought people said this runs cooler, it seems way hotter but no shutdown issues. I was surprised when I saw the insides of it, forgot it only has one fan now. |:

That top vent sure does get toasty though, much hotter than the back of my old 360.
