What do you do after building the PC?

Usually select BOOT PRIORITY and then the DVD Drive, so you can install the OS. Then once its done, select the HDD the OS is on from that menu :)

So to choose boot priority is the 1st and only thing you should do after building the PC,

So if i had a WD velociraptor i would choose that as the first boot drive and windows will be installed on that, than what would be my second, third, a boot option, what if you had like another hard drive for storage, and a blu ray drive what order will they go in?

btw thanks for answers i am a noob but i am learning a lot thank you forum :)

MMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmm not sure what your asking actually????!!!

Do you plan to overclock the proposed build?

Before you get to that stage can I recommend that you

Finish the build.

Check all the connections, several times

Be brave.... and power on :)

Hopefully if alls good the computer should POST (Power On Self Test)

During POST hit Del or F12 or refer to your motherboard manual to see which key to hit to enter BIOS

Arrow down to PC Health Check or similiar and just monitor the temps for a hour or so to "bed" the system in

Once happy navigate to Boot Sequence/Order and make your DVD drive the 1st Boot device.

Insert your OS install disc into DVD drive and power off.

Power on and install OS

Overclocking is dealt in greater detail in the overclocking section of these forums. Sorry to pitch the reply at such a low level but I'm not trying to insult you. We all help each other here as much as possible. :)

Thanks for the HELP! i just want to know what to do after i will complete my first build, and also i would like to do some overclocking i will have the gigabyte UD3r board, i want to overclock the intel core i7 930 to 4GHz with a cosair A70 and i should ahieve this with ease, but i want to overclock after operating system has installed and maybe give my computer couple of days to settle in, for overclocking shall i download software or do it in the bios, and i am useless at overclocking never done it before.

I just want everything up and running. Then think about overclocking.

Just get the build together first and the OS installed and run it at stock settings to settle everything down. Then read over the overclocking section which has stickies at the top that run you through the basics of overclocking.

Good luck

:)

PS... remember it's Summer time, HEAT is your ENEMY, and a lower OC at first may be better.

Use the BIOS for OCing, always. Look around on here, plenty of guides on how to overclock and the UD3R and 930 combo are quite common, so many people will have the same set up and can help you.

I check temperatures, install OS, install drivers, install my favourite programs on OS, check temperatures, disable some services like Index and System Restore, test a game/fps, check temperatures, go to bed and plan how bad I wanna overclock it.

^ In that order :)
