*Official OMG I got my 460 thread*

You got that from OCUK?
No from a competitor. It listed Inno3D specifically with the picture of the nvidia reference cooler. It didn't arrive with the cooler, but it doesn't bother me really.

Anyway, I've had a quick play through of my 12.7gb install of Oblivion. Most of that size is down to graphic mod upgrades, high res textures, new environments, weather effects, characters models etc. and I have noticed quite a large increase in performance.

Its much smoother, especially in the market district of the imperial city which is loaded top to bottom with new mod designs and textures, it was unplayable with my previous card (I had to stare at the floor :o) The 460 handles it no problem and even allows me to up the AA and AAF without seeing a performance decrease.

Sorry I'm not very technical :p

Competitor has got back to me about city link refund, they claim they have only been offered a free carriage through them in a future purchase, and I'll have to phone up with a code.

So I'll have to spend more money with them in future just to get anything out of this silly situation which is what was supposed to be a thursday next day delivery is now a 5 day monday delivery instead (and it still hasn't turned up). No explanation either for the problems.

£8.21 on a next day delivery and nothing in return, it's unlikely I will buy from them again anytime soon too.

Maybe city link gave a refund but the store wont pass it on to me and instead are thinking i'll keep quiet with a future free delivery instead

whatever the case it doesn't feel right, do say if you think I'm overeacting, but I'd think you'd want your money, or at least half back and at the very least an explanation for what is usually a next day delivery experience.

That's terrible customer service

I'd want my shipping costs refunded, and nothing else.

I've had it happen in the past from other retailers and they've always just refunded the shipping cost.

I've had the same with the same competitor you used. City Link totally failed to deliver even though paid for next day. Got offered a future free postage using a code. Not sure if I ever used it or not, had to telephone orders through to use the code, so maybe I lost it.

I didn't notice a change tbh. Although it was only a 20 minutes play through.

I checked temps on exit and it was 55c (from idle 33c.) I think the fan speed stayed at 40%
That sounds good. My 8800GT ramps up to a very loud whine in-game, that's something I want to get away from.

Yeah I know what you mean. It used to happen a lot to me when playing Fall from Heaven 2 mod on Civ IV. The GPU would scream at me after 20-30 minutes of play.

Finally got my parcel, never seen a city link driver move so fast. Backed down my drive too very fast something I don't normally see courier drivers do lol.

Seeing as I never got through to via phone or email to city link, and the only comms about the issue has been from the competitor, I asked him has there been any backlog issues recently and he admitted there has been a lot of problems lately and they have had loads of complaints, I think he was worried I was about to have a go lol, but I was just enquiring for status/explanation. Gave him a run down on the tracking of my parcel and of course he said he hasn't got anything to do with that. Smelly stuff happens I suppose but the customer should be treated fairly if you cannot deliver what is advertised they should get their money back in part or full. I emailed the nice woman at the competitor back expressing my disappointment.

Is there anything regarding trading standards here that I should look into

You can try calling Consumer Direct if you're really keen to make a dent, they'll be able to tell you what can be done (if anything). Sadly, I always find that the answer often ends up as "nothing you can do, sorry". :(
