Why do Overclockers not accept Paypal?

If like me you sell gear and end up with a chunk of money online, it is reasonable to purchase new stuff using your paypal balance.

I think that OC are missing a trick here. Downloading money to your account takes several days, by which time you can have that shiny piece of silicon installed and running.

It also has the advantage of not exposing your CC numbers online and makes the transaction so much easier and quicker.

I would spend more here if the payment option was available.

Flogging a dead horse with this. But Paypal isn't safe, the amount of horror stories on here alone prove that to be the case. It isn't worth the risk for a few extra customers. Also, most people have a debit card these days, if you don't, go to your bank and get one.

Paypal is as safe as you make it, I have literally hundreds of transactions which have gone through. I think that some people who do have horror stories are partially at fault through poor security of their own.

I do have a specific debit card which I do use online, it is attached to an account usually with little cash in it so I do not get ripped off.

My point being that why would someone use a card when paypal is more convenient especially when you have a balance.

 You might have had hundreds of transactions without a problem, I'm sure many others have too, however there have been plenty of times when people have been ripped off by Paypal when it hasn't been any fault of their own.

Also even if it is more convenient for the buyers, as I mentioned before OCuk would be charged more per transaction, which is a big part of the reason they wouldn't accept it.

paypal is crap

seconded^^^ ..... my wife got ripped off on ebay cos someone purchased something off her with a stolen CC, Paypal then refunded the card, leaving us with no goods and almost £80 light too..hate Paypal tbh.

OCUK is a reputable site so no one should have any reservations about "exposing" their card details. Accepting Paypal would leave OCUK open to fraud and slap them with extra charges.

Paypal... ewww....

OK so I spent a goodly sum at OC for a CPU. mobo. ram upgrade this week (paid cash), sold all my older stuff on EBay and ended up with enough for a 57xxHD graphics card in my Paypal account, rather than wait to download the cash or lash out more from the bank, I used an online UK retailer and paid with Paypal. I would rather have used OC as it is good and is local to me. It would also have increased their turnover from me by 25%.
Got to have been worth a small fee, yes?

An etailer i used to use for watercooling stuff before oc did it used to use paypal but they stopped, purely people would order stuff, have it delivered and then do charge back / paypal claim or something thus getting their money back. This company was having so many problems they had to stop it.

Fee's is another issue.

Why don't you use a credit card where you are covered for online purchases and any large purchases are covered by cc protection scheme.
Its bad business sence to have to charge higher in the first palce to cover the fees leveled by paypal. For companies not offering paypal they can advertise at a lower price and win more sales that way.

Well you ask an intersting question.
Would you Nkata be willing to pay an additional fee to a website for the 'ease' of being able to buy with paypal? Rather than the retailer having to increase their base price in order to cover the fees.

I would have personally just withdrawn the cash into my bank account. If I do it at the start of the week it's usually there next day. OCUK gives me free next day delivery, so the time spent waiting for the cash to turn up is made up with delivery.

Plenty of good points.

Yes I am local and use your counter rather than delivery. I will always shop there when I need to buy something using cash.

I do not own a credit card and have not since 1981, do not have a need.

I like the ease of Paypal, I buy and sell domains sometimes and it is convenient.

I do not mind OCUK having my debit card details, I do not see the need for this to occur everytime I purchase something online.

Yes I would agree to a small fee 1-2% to cover paypal fees in the same way CC charges are dealt with sometimes. This would lead to a commercial decision based on price, locality and loyalty. There is very little price differential in this market between several competitors.

The % of sales that would take place using paypal is probably a small proportion of total sales therefore the % charges would be tiny.

Only retailers that do not perform or sell bad gear would suffer chargeback. The situation is similar with credit cards.

OCUK competition, I can think of three directly are using it and many major UK and US etailers use it. I believe that this would be good business to adopt.
