*Official OMG I got my 460 thread*

lol, I bet it's an asrock?

the 4 year old AM2NF3-VSTA I have can run phenom 2 X4, although they claim certain graphics card restriction with a compatible list, and "If you use AM3 / AM2+ CPU on AM2 chipset motherboard, the system bus speed will downgrade from HT3.0 (5200 MT/s) to HT1.0 (2000 MT/s), but the CPU frequency will not be influenced."

Yeah has been one niggling with my system for a while, understand it isnt using all the features but cant bring myself to buy 8Gb of DDR3 (I do lots of video editing)

Mobo is an Asus M3N72-T

Not a bad board at all, except for the 3 graphics card slots

A gtx 460 should be fine for your needs. If your budget allows - then a 1gb.

Update on my dealings with the competitor and city link, have now been gracefully given a full refund of carriage by the store after I had told them I was seeking advice about it and wasn't happy with their gesture of free carriage on a future order. A little bit of persistence goes a long way eh :) am happy with the outcome.

Hi m8 what is the outcome with your new 460 ? hows the noise heat etc

Hiya mate. Yes it has a mini-hdmi socket but no hdmi lead or adapter. Its pretty flimsy on the inclusions part, but it is the cheapest 1gb version. All I got was a molex-to-six pin connector lead and a DVI-VGA adapter and 2 CD's.

Bah, now that's really annoying. Now I wish I'd paid a bit more for a card that had a hdmi port or an adaptor. Is this what I need?

Best price I can find is about 7 pounds delivered.:(

Haha, fiver delivered sounds good to me. Cheers for that!

Edit - ooh, that qed cable looks even better! Just had a check and 1m will just be long enough. 83% off lol!

That'll give me another spare hdmi cable too, nice bonus.

Ok, inno3D card installed with everything up and running. Firstly, this card is pretty much silent in my PC, much quieter than my case fans and it really makes my old single slot 8800gt seem very loud. Temps seem to be pretty good at 39C idle and no higher than 70C load, my case is a smallish HTPC case with fairly poor airflow. My old 8800gt used to idle at 60C and get up to 90C under load, but then it was on its way out. So far so good ....

But performance doesn't seem much better than my 8800gt. Ok I'm still on xp and I wasn't expecting miracles in dx9 but I still thought it'd be more of a boost. Does 13,600 on 3d mark06 with a stock q6600 sound about right? My old 8800gt used to get 11000 or so. I know it's very CPU limited, but I was surprised to see that the minimum frame rates were practically the same as my old card. I didn't think minimum frame rates indicated CPU limitation, or am I wrong? Could anyone with a similar CPU possibly run the benchmark to give my an idea if my card's performing as it should? Are there any other good dx9 benchmarks to use?

Also I can't seem to activate the digital sound output, in the sound devices bit in windows it just says no audio device. My onboard sound has been broken for ages and is disabled in the BIOS. Any help?

lol:// get msi afterburner 1.6.1 and unlock the voltage settings slide the core up slowly like testing every 10mhz on the core and if it gives artifacts in 3dmark vantage then up the voltage by 1 increment, and test again...etc

I thought vantage was dx10/11 only, or is there an dx9 xp version? Just tried 750 core 1500 shader and it barely made a difference to 3dmark 06 so I guess cpu limitation is the problem there, but I'm still bothered by the fact it was often dipping well below 30fps. I'll reinstall crysis to give it a proper test, I seem to recall my old card being just about playable at 1080p averaging about 25fps.

Oh and for some reason in msi afterburner, the default core clock is at the memory clock of 1800mhz and the memory clock is the core clock at 675mhz. ?
