My new Audi

I was offered......wait for it.........£22K off a BRAND NEW one some months back....£22K!!

To your spec? With or without the RS4?

I think the dealerships have a 3 month free credit agreement with Audi, so I'm guessing why I've been offered it at that hit, but £22k off a spanker to spec...nice.

I love Audis, one of those brands you cant really fault.

They just work. (generally) (well, for most people).

Love the A8, cracking car, just a shame the wheels are not anything a bit more fancy...

No trade, not to my spec.

Funny old world. Audi, on three seperate new car purchases, have absolutely, but politely, refused to budge on nice mats being thrown in. I do like a minty fresh, top of the range mat.

Now they're chucking A8s out the door with heavy discount.

I got 4K of the wifes A4 too.....and some mats :D

The discount on the A8 was offered to me over 2 years back not recently and was on a car they couldn't shift, cancelled order type thing.

Ahh, so when you said months, you actually meant years? I know time tends to speed up for people of a certain age, sensing their own mortality and all :D

I thought you meant 22k off the D4 which has only been out for a few months. You almost took the shine off the offer.

It might actually have been 3 years back, you know what it's like. I was with a colleague at the time who I haven't worked with for closer to 3 years!! :D You know what it's like, years become months, months weeks, days hours, I have a history of reducing time lines, its them grey cells diminishing. :(

Tell them the HausMeister does not do mortal time and refer them to your PA for required timelines.

Looks-wise, I think the survey came back that A8 owners liked the bland anonomity so they made a gigantic jelly A4. I can *almost* live with it.

Why spend 90K on a Jag?

I was asking what puts you off a 90k Audi.

Hard to put my finger on it to be honest, i find them anonymous and a bit lacking presence, i tried them years ago before i went 4x4 and always ended up back at a Merc.

Very capable car, just not 90k capable.

I understand preferences 100%, but the A8 is not any less capable than the S class or 7 series. They each have their respective high points and differing appeal but I'd be hard pressed to objectively point to any incapabilties of the A8 in comparison to it's rivals.

Got to agree having driven the 4.2 recently, uber beast of a box, every bit as special as an S Class and 7 Cathedral. Not quite as glide e as the S but prefer the inside to both and looks epic with those big RS looky like wheels in black with the Bang Oulfson thingys in the dashboard. Still tell it's an Audi from the damping and steering is less than direct but then same with any big barge from the land of the Bish.

Its a good job we are all different or none of us would be able to buy our 1-3 year old bargain of choice.

Your ganging up on me now, you both like Audis :)

Oh I hate most Audi's, which is odd as I drive arguably their best, but A8 is in Ronin, what's not to like, I'm Robert D Caprio or whatever his name is.
