**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

They probably needed the funding for all the advertising and such it's getting. I can't imagine it was cheap to get an SC2 advert shown at the NBA finals in america.

Its not like it needed advertising, I imagine that 80% of the people who are buying it will have heard of it and possibly will have known about it for 10 years!

But yeh, I have been suprised to see adverts. Finally a game advert that doesnt say "only available for ps3 and xbox360" in a cheesy american accent.

Dont think I have ever seen an advert for a PC only game... FU console owners!!

im still holding out hope that ill find somewhere next weekend doing for it <£30

This, I'm not gonna pay 30 quid for it, as much as I want it, especially since its only one part of the game that's been split into 3 to milk everyone... Good ole Activition.

Blizzard did the same thing with Broodwar. Wings of Liberty by itself has a bigger campaign than Starcraft 1. I don't see the problem. Is it that they announced there would be expansions from the start? Would you not have minded if they announced the expansions at a later date or something? What about all the other games that have expansions, are they milking you too?

Why couldnt Blizzard Entertainment publish it instead of having Activision rake piles of money in?

Because they're joint companies now?

On a related note, I guess everyone's pre-ordered the game for £35 and can't find it anywhere cheaper? :(

I imagine it's £35 everywhere at this point, being so close to release.

(havent looked recently though as I preordered a couple months back for £25 ;))

I don't get this Activision hate, they are a business, they sell for what they think people are willing to pay, you pay for the game. Plus lets face it, Pc games have been hovering around the £25 pound mark for years (compared to console thats cheap) so they were bound to go up at some point...

But then again £35 for a pc game! They really are having a laugh!

On a starcraft II note, i will be getting it, but not yet, i haven't played through the original in years so i am going to hunt it down and play through it all and BW just to bring it all back. And with my work load it maybe cheaper when i finally get around to it.

Oh and its not like Blizzard is a model for cheapness, what is it, £9 a month * the nerd population == loadsamoney!!!

what a great vid, im officially psyched now :D

i liked how the vids on that page explained the story again for me.

i cant remember last week, never mind 12 years ago :o

Whats difficult about sending you an email with a code so you can download the retail client from battle.net?

So why do Blizzard need Activision to publish the game for them? Surely Blizzard just need to sit back and send out codes to people. Not too hard

Blizzard is Activision, the actual company is called "Activision Blizzard".
