*Official OMG I got my 460 thread*

Yeah, but how many are they getting, and how many pre-orders do they have to fill first?

Wouldn't get your hopes up just yet.

I'm going to hold off until Tues, see what this Sparkle is like for Nickg, and if no Giga's come in i'll grab a Sparkle if it's good.

yeah dont get hopes up, the site you are talking about they suck you in with products and pretty pictures but they have serious stock issues, only chance is to pre-order but then you pay in advance which is silly imo

trust me my kfa2 460... oh man was that bad news. i could hear it @ 20% fanspeed when i was in the bathroom, i dont know what fka were thinking.

lol not good when you're trying to relax on the toilet eh :D
fka, nice touch or unintentional?

so the giga has 2 fans, they must be high quality silent fans? if people report them as silent, I mean 2 fans is like having 2 graphics cards already, imagine 2 of the fans from the palit or gainward on them!

KFA2 1GB review:
Now here's where the review will take a drastic turn. The cards when under stress are noisy. In idle we measure roughly 40~41 dBA coming from the system. That's already higher than the reference noise level under load.

Once the GPU starts to heat up under heavy stress, the card becomes noisy. These are by far the loudest GTX 460 we have tested thus far.

Looks like the KFA card has increased voltage, the loaded power use is 57W higher than the reference 1GB

Basspwr freudlin slip!!!

Dutchguy i had a retail OC LTD KFA GTX 460 1GB i posted pics in this thread.

idle voltage was 1012mv

oh ya i couldnt get the core over 840 without like 1037+mv!!!!...!!!!

but what is odd about the guru3d review is that it says Zotac 1gb is quiet... wheras everyone else says its louder than reference...

So it's fingers crossed on the Sparkle card or wait and hope for the Gigabyte boards pity really.

I see on the Sparkle site that they are also claiming a first on production of a 2GB card. Though of course I can't find it anywhere. I found a few German and Russian articles about it mostly just PR though.

Makes me think that it might be worth holding on for awhile and wait for the 2GB cards to arrive from all the manufacturers. Probably the best option as I want 460 SLI.

yeah where im looking at it just says pre-order item. Item due 27th July 2010

Whether they can keep to that is another matter, but anyway i couldn't hold anymore and went for the EVGA 768mb SC version. I think its more then enough for my gaming needs and will be a great upgrade to my HD 4670.

I expected better than that because the evga fan looks similar to the fan on the 8800gtx, however the height of the fan might be less, and there are more fins which are facing straight inwards to the centre of the spindle, on the 8800gtx there are less fins which are more at an angle to aid in airflow when turning. The design of the evga fan might create more noise I suppose, and might spin faster.

Any OC staff member know when they're likely to receive the Giga 1GB cards? Does this also mean I'll need to get up early to get my order in if they're only getting a couple of dozen at the most? I get free shipping somewhere else but it all depends on total price paid.

I'm still trying to exchange my 1GB 5830 for a 1GB GTX 460 after buying my Titan Xenomorph a matter of hours before it switched to the Nvidia card option!! Just how much better is a 460 over a 5830? I feel slightly cheated! :*(

When the 460 is OC'd (and all variants seem to be able to go to 800+ on the core), it's considerably better than the 5830, indeed in some benchmarks, it's beating the GTX 470!

Plus it has the benefits of Physx and Cuda, get that card changed!

Yeah, been looking at some reviews and a normal (stock) 460 out performs a 5830 in almost every benchmark/game. Even the 768MB 460 outperforms the 5830 in some tests! I am gutted, I seriously hope OCUK can get it changed for me! :(

Hey guys, I'm looking to buy a new GPU after my 8800GT died. I've narrowed the choice down to either the HD5770 or the 460 and I'm leaning towards the Nvidia card right now. The problem is I only have a puny 375W PSU and while I've had it confirmed that the 5770 can run on that I'm not sure whether the extra W required under load would push it over the edge with a 460.

Can anyone offer any advice based on their experience with the 460 or anything they've read from others? My PC has an E8400 and 2 HDD's if that helps approximations. Any help would be much appreciated.

Re: Fan noise, I've had my 8800GT on 70% for the last month keeping it on life support and I've now grown used to it :p.

well on nvidia site http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/product-geforce-gtx-460-uk.html it says min sys power required is 450w and two 6pin pcie connectors,
personally I would bet that a stock 460 would run on a 375w psu. But I would advise against it tbh

Thanks for the reply. The problem with their figures is that it's the same 450W recommendation for the 5770 which I know from a friend works fine with a 375W. If no-one can say for sure I'll just go with the ATI and save myself £50 but the 460 would be nice if possible.

Ive got 2x KFA2 EX OC 1gb set up in SLI @700Mhz and its no louder than my GTX280.

Idle voltage 0.875V @31C with fans @20%
100% load is 1.012V @87C and fans @63%

I've not tried overclocking as it get 60+fps in Crysis @1680x1050 so i wouldnt discount them just yet. On another plus note these came with the VRM heatsink.

@ The Bass: They always overstate the power supply to account for all the crap brands out there that can barely output 2/3 of their rated wattage. Anandtech have the total system power draw for the 1GB card at 290w (Crysis) and 330w (Furmark), that's on an overclocked i7-920 test system with 6GB of RAM.

So depending on the quality of your PSU and the number of components it's powering, you might need an upgrade or you might not.
