i take it these arnt the fastest drives. Would i see any benefit using one of these as an os drive rather than a raid0 with two f3 samsungs.

Over a pair of Samsungs F3 in RAID most likely not. Apart from the TorqX model that would be faster.

The main point of SSD in the 0.1ms access time and completely silent operation.

Dont believe you its too much of a conincidence mate, as I said on the other thread, good to see OCUK getting price competitive again (even though I dont need any of these items at the moment)....

These are great buys for anyone needing an SSD or normal disk.......

Looking forward to the next deals, any chance of something for the 980x!!!

Just posted a load of CPU Deals. ;)

980X though, just check our web pricing, its competitive, if not let me know what you have seen elsewhere and I shall see what I can do with our web price. :)

Are OCUK going back to putting the "inc vat" price in brackets after the ex vat price?

Nope that is just me learning the ropes, haha, if you look at the two newer threads, they are now INC VAT, not that it really matters to be honest, but the INC VAT method we shall proceed with. :)

I like the INC VAT method as I'm a personal customer (and don't claim the tax back). I don't see the point other than for businesses, and I don't even know if you do special business accounts.

These SSDs are getting very cheap now.

How do these Patriot drives perform? I remember there was one a while back that was awaiting an firmware update from them but they never released one which should've increased the performance.

edit here is the thread: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18104908&page=5

Are they the same drives?

Yes the PS-100 are the same drives, hence how I said in my original post not the best performers but at these prices you should not be expecting that from an SSD. Not sure on a firmware update....

The Patriot TorqX however is a very fast decent drive for the money.

Do the cheaper drives have TRIM support, or does that explain their price ?

With SSD you pay for what you get, don't buy these expecting Crucial/OCZ performance as you won't get it. Buy these if you want a taste of what SSD can do, as value for money they are fantastic and ideal for a laptop.

TRIM is unknown sorry, but I'd say no.
