**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

There are different cutscenes, some are pre rendered CGI and others real-time.
Interested to know if the "ingame" is same as used directly when playing, that's some pretty good detail up close it can do from a RTS.

Edit, yes it is.

They are destroying PC gaming, go read what they did with CoD: MW 2 on PC.

They also killed SoF for me, so they can all die of cancer as far as I'm concerned.

Activision's involvement doesn't show in the gameplay whatsoever. Blizzard aren't that stupid. The game is the best RTS since Starcraft and will remain that way for many years. When the Korean pros move over it'll also be the biggest esport for many years.

Anyone know a good resource for playing a certain race? Build orders and such, whats a good counter to what. It seems everyone has a head start.

Old SC1 player looking to find a new game to maybe play semi competitively, I understand the basics :)
Going to dedicate those all too many free hours I have.

I got to play it early, but decided I didn't want to spoil anything until it was fully release !

Hmmm I can only recommend the strategy forum on tl.net.

I mean in my head I have the basic builds and counters I'm not sure anyone have synthesised that onto paper / text yet.

The problem during the beta was the rapidly changing nature of the units, their performance and powers.

There's a guy here too with his own strategy site, I forget the url thoutgh :o

I'm not sure how many people are interested in competitive starcraft 2, but last night there was a match between TheLittleOne and Tester (and commentary by Day[9]) that was the most amazing battle of the beta (at least that I have seen anyway). It had everything an epic battle needs, 30 min of terran vs protos with nukes, motherships, battlecruisers and half a dozen planetary fortresses used just for defense. I think the word 'epic' gets used way to much, but I have to say this match was quite epic.

For those who want to see it you can watch an archive of it here: http://day9tv.blip.tv/file/3917155/ I know some people have had issues with that website though, such as having to start from the begining if you try to skip anything, and having to watch an ad so it may be an idea to download the .flv and watch that.

Just had this off game:

Your credit/ debit card has been authorised and your order is now being released for packing.
Funds will not be debited until your order is shipped.

Yay :D

I work a shift rota, week on and week off. My shift ends on tuesday night. Is this acceptable or should I look to get the day off!?

Imagine I did get the day off and the game never arrived on time! :(

Found this reference on starcraft.incgamers.com under their Starcraft Activation FAQ:

Unfortunately Incgamers didn't include a link to the original forum post. However if this is the case it seems that you can pre-download, all you need to do it make sure you've downloaded the client matching the region of your retail copy. For us plebs in the UK, that'd be the copy from http://eu.battle.net/en/info/digital-purchase.

Given that account creation is separate from the installation process, this does tend to make sense.

The original forum post can be found here I've pre-ordered from game and I'm also downloading the digital copy so I don't have to install off the DVD.

£70 lol

and you get. [Drumroll]

# The Art of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, a 176-page book featuring artwork from the game
# An exclusive 2GB USB flash drive replica of Jim Raynor's dog tag, which comes preloaded with the original StarCraft and the StarCraft: Brood War expansion set
# A behind-the-scenes DVD
# The official StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty soundtrack CD
# StarCraft comic book issue #0,
# A World of Warcraft mini Thor in-game pet
# Exclusive Battle.net downloadable content, including special portraits for your Battle.net profile, decals to customize your units in-game, and a visually unique version of the terran Thor unit

Probably costs about £10 for that so they make a massive profit margin

went into my local games retailer to pre order it and trade in a game or two towards it, was talking to the girl their for a while and she agree'd it was a total laugh of a box set.

New Vegas boxset however, puts SC2 to shame in terms of what you get with the box.
